You don’t have a proper routine

When it comes to your face, you need to have a good routine in place. But what does a good routine look like? For me, I have to break it down into different sections. Once a month, I go to see my friend Katie to get my lashes done and see if she has any suggestions to help me maintain my skin. Once a week, I like to use a face mask and do some nail and hair maintenance. And then there is my daily routine. The stuff that you daily will make all the difference. It is important to cleanse and moisturise your skin using the right stuff. When it comes to skincare, there can be no shortcuts and the best results come from a daily routine.
You have been buying the wrong stuff

When it comes to choosing products, it might be tempting to go with the cheapest option. Don’t get me wrong, I feel you, we don’t always have the money to shell out on an expensive cream that promises to remove the mistakes of your youth. But buying the cheapest doesn’t mean value for money. You have to weigh up the cost and quality of a product. If you are in doubt about this, check out The Beauty Edit or Empties from the Bathroom and you can see for yourself the different products I have tested over the years and you will get a good idea of the cost and quality thing.
You don’t remove your makeup

We are all guilty of doing this, and doing it once in a blue moon won’t wreck all of your hard work, doing it all the time will. I can wear a lot of makeup during the day so I have to make sure I take the time to remove it at the end of the day. Yes, it sucks having to stand and wash your face, remove all of the eye makeup, use what feels like a million different bottles of potions, and then I can crawl into bed. Is it worth it? I’m 34 and have 4 children, I regularly get mistaken for early 20’s and I rarely get a spot. It takes some time at the end of the day but it is worth it.
What is your skin type?

Ask yourself this, what is your skin type? Do you even know what it is? I have normal skin with the odd dry spot. My daughter has oily and acne breakouts. We shouldn’t use the same products because they wouldn’t give us the right results. This is a big mistake that most people make, they try products that aren’t suitable for their skin and make it a million times worse. While it might be tempting to try out whatever facewash that celebrities and bloggers are shilling (myself included) if you know that it isn’t for your skin, don’t use it.
You aren’t giving your products time to work

There are times that I use a product for the first time and it is amazing. My skin is brighter and smoother, it’s a miracle in a tub. We all love these types of products but they are few and far between. Most of the time, we pick up a new product, we expect miracles to happen asap! The problem with this is that most products take time to work and they work best after a few days (or weeks) of using it regularly. If a product isn’t meeting your expectations, don’t just bin it after a few uses, try and use it until the tub is empty. If you see no improvement after using the tub, then don’t buy it again. But if you have a reaction to a product, then stop using it straight away.
