Bathroom empties are a chance for me to share with you the products I have been using in order to tell you if they work or not. The bottles aren’t pretty when they are empty but that is the fun of this.

Alberto Balsam Shampoo and Conditioner
If you have been here for a while, you will already know that I like to keep random spares in the bathroom, here are two. This is a green apple conditioner with a coconut and lychee shampoo that I was using as spares when I ran out of matching shampoo and conditioner. I have to say, I’m not keen on these for my hair these days. They are very drying and don’t help with the colour loss.
Tesco Revitalising Shampoo and Conditioner
I’m going to be blunt with this one, this is not suitable for coloured hair. Not only does it strip the colour, it leaves your hair like straw if you have bleached or lightened it. And it is a shame because the tea tree and mint scent is pretty decent for being such a cheap shampoo and conditioner.
Boots Fresh and Fruity Strawberry Shampoo and Conditioner
I’m going to put my hands up and admit that I only got this because it was cheap and smells nice. And that is as far as it goes. The strawberry scent is nice and fresh but it doesn’t work for my coloured hair. It washes the colour out and left my hair feeling dry. I could barely get a brush through my hair after using this. Not good, not good at all.
Wonder Woman 2in1 Shampoo & Conditioner
I’m not going to lie, I got this because it had Wonder Woman on the bottle. We have all been there, buying something we know that is probably going to be rubbish but we love the bottle or the design and waste our money on it anyway. This was no different and it was a shame. There was no smell, no lather, and my hair was like a birds nest after I used it.
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush
Up until last year, I was not a fan of dry shampoo, but my mind has been changed since then. Batiste is one of the top-selling dry shampoos and it’s easy to see why. This one seemed to work really well with my hair. It wasn’t really powdery and gave great volume when I was using it for vintage up styles. This is one of the few dry shampoos that I would buy again.
Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Invisible Dry Shampoo and Conditioner
Who knew that you could get a shampoo and conditioner in one spray? Me neither! But, it works. And, in my humble opinion, it works better than the original Batiste spray. Although I’m not 100% convinced that this has a conditioner, I think it worked so much better than the regular stuff.
Mark Hill Gym Style Instant Fix Dry Shampoo
I know Batiste is one of the big selling dry shampoos but this one is miles better in my book. This dry shampoo doesn’t leave any powder or heavy residue. I don’t know if it is because it is designed for after the gym but the formula seems to be very different from other dry shampoos. The thing about this one is, I picked it up in a discount store for £1 and that makes it even better to me!
Percy & Reed London Hair Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery
This is one of those surprising products that really works. All you need to do is pop just in your hair at night before you go to bed, and wash it out the next morning. I didn’t even need to use a hair cap to protect my pillow, but you should probably use one, just in case. This stuff left my hair really soft and silky. Perfect for those days when you want your hair down and au natural.
Crazy Colour in Capri Blue
This is the colour I have mainly been using for the last year and I love it! This is a bright and bold blue that is really hard to wash out. I’ve gone for two months between colours and still have a really good shade of blue in my hair. This is also one of the more reasonably priced hair dyes out there and there is a massive range of colours to choose from. My hair is halfway down my back now so it takes two full bottles to completely cover my hair.
L’Oreal Colorista Washout Colour in Turquoise
Remember when I dyed my hair blue for the first time last year? Ok, that wasn’t “the first” time I have dyed my hair blue, but it is the first time since having my baby boy. This was the first colour that I popped in my hair. I will admit, it was because the colour was called turquoise. I did like it when it was fresh but as it washed out it left a horrible green tinge that made my hair look like seaweed, not quite the mermaid look I was going for.
Clairol Colour Crave Semi-Permanent Colour in Indigo
This was another semi-permanent colour that I have tested out between dye jobs. The shade of this blue is a lot closer to the Crazy Color blue that I love so much. The problem with this is the bottle is tiny so you will need a couple of bottles for a full head of hair (I would probably need about four bottles for my hair), and it is expensive. Not great if you are going for a full head.
Colgate Whitening and Fresh Breath
Having good oral health is important to me, that’s why I test so many kinds of toothpaste. I know that a lot of bloggers don’t bother with toothpaste but that is them. This is one of those toothpastes that is fairly decent and does a good job of clearing the mouth out first thing in the morning. It doesn’t do anything for sensitive teeth so you might want to avoid it if that is want you need.
Sensodyne Repair and Protect Whitening Toothpaste
We are all guilty of indulging in sugar and stuff that damages our teeth, so we should look after them. This toothpaste was recommended by my dentist when I was having some problems. I am surprised how well this works with sensitive teeth. Does it whiten and repair too? I have idea but my dentist hasn’t been telling me off so I’ll take it as a win.
Colgate Total Proof
The proof is in the pudding as they say, but does this do what it claims? Errr…the jury is out on this one because I didn’t see anything in the sink that would suggest that this toothpaste does anything amazing. I was a bit disappointed with this one, I was expecting so much more with how it had been hyped up.
Listerine Cool Mint Mouthwash
This was a family sized bottle of mouthwash that I had picked up for everyone to use, and everyone did use it. This has been really handy with cold and flu season nearly upon us. And having a massive bottle like this is great because it means we don’t run out every 5 minutes. Listerine is one of the better brands and is great for getting rid of mouth ulcers and things like that.
Listerine Total Care Mouthwash
Yeah, we have been having a bit of a Listerine kick recently. Nothing wrong with that. These are two slightly smaller bottles that didn’t last that long in my bathroom but they were still pretty good. The taste of these were slightly nicer (milder?) than the cool mint. There was more of a cinnamon taste off these ones.
Tesco Pro Formula Dental Floss
Hands up who actually flosses their teeth? Well, if you don’t then you should consider it. But I wouldn’t recommend using this one unless you enjoy cutting your gums. This stuff was too thin and really hurt when I used it, and I am someone who flosses every day. If you are in a pinch with money, then this would do the job but you would probably be better just paying for decent floss in the long run.
