The Ultimate Anti-Sickness Smoothie

We have all been there at some point and it can come in many forms. And it isn’t pleasant in the slightest. But that doesn’t mean that you should suffer with the feeling nausea. So whether you feel sick because of a tummy bug, food poisoning, pregnancy, or even a bad-ass hangover, here is the cure to help you ride it out. This anti-sickness smoothie has been tried and tested by myself for some of the worst hangovers you have ever seen, and if it can get me through a whiskey hangover, then it should help you out in any other way.

What you need for the anti-sickness smoothie-

1/2 cucumber

1 small apple

1 teaspoon of frozen ginger

1 teaspoon of chia seeds

honey

ice

water

A good blender

What you need to do-

When I make this, I like to use my Nutra Ninja blender, mainly because it really whizzes everything up instead of leaving me with a rancid pulp that I get from using a hand blender. I use the big jug that comes with it so I will end up with around 500ml of smoothie. You want to get this really smooth because you don’t want to be choking down any bits. Peel the skin off the cucumber and the apple to reduce the amount of lumpy bits that you get. Once that is done, pop them in your jug. Then add a few ice cubes, around 3 to 5 should do it. Frozen ginger can be found in most major supermarkets now and it is great for keeping in the freezer for making smoothies and general cooking. The problem with ginger is you need to add one teaspoon for it to help your stomach but depending on how much water you add will depend on the strength of the ginger. Fill up your jug with some water, but not too much, around halfway is good after adding your other ingredients. All that is left is a teaspoon of chia seeds and some honey to taste. If you have a stomach bug Manuka honey is great to use because it is believed to have anti-bacterial properties. Once everything is on the jug, pop on the lid and whizz it up until everything looks smooth and mixed together. All you need to do now is put your smoothie in your favourite glass, relax, and sip away until your nausea eases. Enjoy!
