Fine jewellery is one of those things that can come in and out of fashion at any time. But what are the current trends that are getting people excited? For me, it is the fine piece of jewellery known as a tennis bracelet from Carat London Jewellery.

Teaming up with brands is always fun, but you will see why I am so excited about this bracelet in particular as we go along. When Carat London Jewellery reached out and asked if I could review a piece of jewellery for them, I could hardly say no. I picked the beautiful piece from their newest collection for review and I am excited to share my views with all of you.
What is a tennis bracelet?
This sounds like a strange name for a delicate piece of jewellery but it has an interesting history. First of all, the tennis bracelet has been around since the 1920s. However, it has not always been known as a tennis bracelet. This name allegedly came about when Chris Evert broke her diamond George Bedewi bracelet during a tennis match. She asked for the match to be paused for a moment while she searched for the bracelet. Since then, the delicate bracelet has been known as a Tennis bracelet. However, people who are a lot smarter than me have done some research as to the true nature of the name. Whatever the origin, it is safe to say that low-key diamonds and tennis go hand-in-hand. It is important to remember that tennis is an elite sport that is filled with wealthy people, so it is not surprising that tiny diamonds for bracelets are a thing for tennis players.
Why a bracelet?
Let me start off by saying that I don’t normally wear bracelets because I have the worlds skinniest wrists. I have been known to lose expensive bracelets that have slipped over my hand. I’ve even had trouble with getting watches to fit. A few years ago, my husband decided to buy me a Nomination bracelet because they are completely adjustable. And, thanks to my love of sweets and carbs, my wrists are now the size you would expect for an adult. But after nearly forty years of having to avoid a certain jewellery type, I still find myself overlooking bracelets. My main concern with bracelets is the size. Sure, I can have them altered but they never seem to look right. The bracelet that I was gifted was very different because it was adjustable! Not only can I make it nice and tight, but the adjustable clasp also looks amazing! Finally, I can have a bracelet that all of the cool kids have!
1990’s Icons
Back in the 1990s, tennis bracelets were all the rage, and I always wanted one! Unfortunately, my skinny wrists wouldn’t allow it. Also, my parents had no interest in replacing a bracelet that they knew would go missing every time I left the house. Now the 90s are making a comeback so you can expect to see plenty of tennis bracelets gracing the wrists of the trendy people once again. It was tv shows such as 90210, with the glamorous young actresses that had everyone drooling over the simply jewellery, flashy cars, and the drama that went on for days. The 90s were pretty awesome and I am happy to have a small slice of it back again.
