Holiday fashion for Men

Summer is coming and the ladies are thinking about changing the contents of the wardrobe to floaty dresses and lightweight fabrics. But what about the boys? What will they be wearing this summer? Have a look at some of the great ideas for the guys who need to update their wardrobes too with some summer holiday fashion pieces.

Hats

When the suns out, the guns come out. Men do love to strip off when the temperature heats up, I would too if the sight of my mummy-tummy didn’t scare small children. So, shirtless men will be seen a lot when the sun pokes its head out from the clouds. So how can they accessorise? With plenty of hats. Baseball caps are a firm favourite because they can keep the sun out of your eyes or you can pop the peak backward and protect your neck from sunburn. Straw hats have been making a comeback over the last few years and are still growing in popularity. Wide brim hats are not quite as popular but they are an option to consider if you are heading somewhere with strong sun, we don’t want you getting burnt!

Shirts

My husband has so many shirts and t-shirts, it’s mind-boggling, and they all have different uses. Plain t-shirts are great for under formal shirts, especially if they are made of thinner fabric and they don’t want their nipples showing. Then there are t-shirts with printed designs on them which are more of a statement piece. The golf crowd t-shirts have funny slogans that even a non-golfer would appreciate. They even have kids golf gifts so the men can do some matching with their golf themed t-shirts. Don’t be afraid to mix things up with different designs and invest in a heap of different shirts. The best thing about them is that they can be worn all year round, they aren’t just for some quick summer holiday fashion updates.

Shorts and trousers

Even if you are staying at home, you might want to invest in some shorts. There are so many different styles to choose from this season, you will be spoilt for choice. Wearing swimming shorts as day wear can be a great way to cut down on the amount of stuff that gets packed in your suitcase. Lightweight chinos are probably one of the best things to pack in your suitcase for those balmy evenings. But even if you stay at home they make a great change from wearing jeans all of the time. Try and stay away from heavy cargo shorts and try some lighter options. Loads of shorts have plenty of pockets so there is no need to worry about where to put your phone.

Footwear

What do men like to wear on their feet? If the men in my life are anything to go by, then barefoot is the answer. But when you go on holiday they need something to protect their toes when you go sightseeing. Sandals and flip-flops are the obvious choices when it comes to footwear during a heatwave. But dress shoes can be open, or maybe sandals can be dressy? For casual wear, trainers with shoe liners might not seem like a good idea but when it comes to walking about, you need something comfy.

  1. My husband is a baseball cap (specifically yankees), tee shirt, kaki shorts with sneakers kind of a guy. Although he does switch it up with some button down short sleeves from time to time. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Sooo…I love men in hats, but not caps. I love a good old school hat or a Kangol cap. They’re so stylish and easy to pack. I also love the straw hats for holiday travel. I’m also not one for Tevas. Those are for camping or water sports only. I prefer a leather sandal, like the ones an older Italian gentleman would wear with dress pants that are hiked up too much. The martens you put in the post are very close to that look. The right guy can so pull off that look.

  3. Man in the summer, needless to deny it, is always horrible xD Unfortunately fashion doesn’t help!

  4. I have not seen anyone focus on men’s fashion wear. Good that you are doing it. Even men need some chance to catch some summer style.

  5. My husband likes to buy his own things. He never likes what I have to pick out for him. It’s usually a shirt with a funny saying or one with a bear or moose or something like that. He also has more expensive taste than I do. So for summer, he’s a t-shirt, khaki shorts, hiking shoes wearing man.

  6. This is a refreshing post! Nice to see what men can look forward to in fashion. As a fashion accessories blogger, I’m particularly fond of your accessory picks 🙂

  7. I think it’s good to also bring a nice pair of khakis or linen pants and button-down shirt on holiday. You never know when you are going to go out to a nice dinner and you want to look good.
