Do you ever get a bit itchy and feel the need for a change of scenery? That’s what I’m feeling right now but I don’t have the budget to travel half-way around the world. So, I’m looking closer to home for a nice weekend away. And Fife has just appeared on my “to visit” list. Read on for some reasons to head over and have a visit.

The sea
If you know me at all, you will know that I love to be beside the sea. Seriously, I can be found on a freezing cold beach in the middle of winter with my toes in the sand. Fife has some fantastic shorelines that I could dip my toes into, despite it being on the eastern coast of Scotland. The waters around Scotland are some of the cleanest in Europe (or so I’ve been told) so it is a great place to have a dunk, even if it is freezing cold! If you don’t fancy a skinny dip, there are loads of little coastal towns and villages that you can enjoy. What more could I want?
The history
I don’t know if you know this, but I’m a massive history nerd *cough* here is my very own history book *cough* so I always check out the local history of any area that I visit. If you are like me, you will not be disappointed with what Fife has to offer. There is so much history! You can deep dive back to the kingdoms of the ancient kings of Scotland and explore their world with what they left behind. There are so many castles and museums to check out, as well as art galleries that showcase images from the past. The Scots are very proud of their heritage so there is no shortage of family stories and unique artwork to showcase the people who came before.
Getting hitched
Ok, I’ll admit it, I’m already married. But if I had to do my wedding over again, I’d clear away off to Scotland. Maybe it’s the history, the beaches, or something else (I could be here all day listing the reasons that I love Scotland) but it would be my go-to place for a wedding. It must be great fun if you are on a Fife Dating Site, you can be wedding ready within a month or two if you meet the one! But, in all seriousness, if I was to get remarried, I would love to do it in a castle or on the beach (seeing a theme here?) and make sure it is a really small and intimate gathering. So, if my husband (or future husband) is reading this, let’s go to Fife to profess our love for each other.
Golfing around
I don’t really play golf but you can’t go to the world capital for golf and not swing the clubs a bit. Did you know that there are 50 different courses to choose from? 50?! I have no idea if it is possible to play on all of them, maybe one course a week for a year, but I would love to try and play on as many as possible. The courses are situated in some of the most beautiful places including St Andrews links which has seven public courses to choose from. You can even take a tour of a golf club factory and see how clubs are made using traditional methods.
