After finding a list of goals and dreams that I had planned out, I couldn’t help but notice that a few of the entries had “5 things off bucket list”. Great. So, where is my bucket list then?

I don’t know what has made me look through all of those old notebooks. They normally sit on my shelf, collecting dust after collecting ideas. I must have been looking for ideas for a story or remembering what I had put in them. Maybe I wanted to recycle those ideas I had and give them a purpose. Whatever the reason, I opened them and started flicking through. When I rediscovered the timeline I had written several years ago, along with the list of goals I had for that year, something inside me was rediscovered too. I still wanted to achieve those goals and make up for the lost time. But as I read down the list, I noticed that some of the entries had “2 things off bucket list” or “five things off bucket list” listed as a goal. But where was my bucket list?
Making a bucket list is something very personal. It has our dreams and once in a lifetime events that we want to see. It is the list of things that you want to do before you kick the bucket and leave this world behind. I’ve been pretty lucky with the things that I want to achieve so far. I have a big family of four kids, I got married, I ran a marathon, I’ve published a book, and I have a job that I love. In this respect, I have ticked a lot of things off the general bucket list that people find acceptable. I’ve also had a rock star handle my underwear (I threw my bra at Metallica when I saw them live and the bassist, Robert Trujillo, held it for everyone to see…and then threw it into the crowd which really annoyed me because it was my favourite hot pink one from LA Senza), used to pole dance, and done a lot of stuff that I can’t put on here because they are too weird but those who know, know.
Thinking back on my life, I’m not sure what I was thinking when I was writing “do things from bucket list”. What was on it? Swimming with sharks? Sleep in a coffin? Travel to space? Roast a tarantula like a marshmallow in the deepest part of the Amazon Rainforest? Honestly, I could see any of those things ending up on my list, except for the tarantula thing. Confused by it all, I asked my husband if he was aware of this list. He did not. Even he wasn’t sure about what I could have on the list. Was it winning a massive jackpot on the lottery? Crashing a strangers wedding? Crashing my ex’s wedding to ruin their day? Farting in a bath full of jelly? Even my husband couldn’t think of things that I could have put on a list and that man knows exactly how weird I can be.
Because I can’t find that list, I’ve decided to make a new one. What mayhem I’ll put on it, I have no idea. Perhaps I’ll put some “normal stuff” on it such as taking a ride in a hot air balloon or learning to surf. But maybe, just maybe, some weird stuff will be on there too. Although, I’m not too sure how many packets of jelly it will take to fill my bath tub up…..
What is on your bucket list? Give me some ideas of things to do (especially if they are weird).
