Recently I have found myself in a bit of a writers slump, not because I didn’t have anything to write about, I just didn’t want to bitch about things. Why? Money has been a bit tight, my ex-partner is a pain in the butt, and I’m trying to get a small business up and running. It just didn’t seem worthy of writing about. I did consider writing a few bits about it all after reading a recent international magazine, let’s just say, if that is what columnists are writing about (and getting paid for) I am really undervalued and should be loaded if that is what the “professionals” are getting paid to do. But that’s not what this blog post is about. No. Today I saw something and just had to write about it, even though I feel that I have no great amount of input into what happened.

Let me set the scene for you. It’s 1 am, I’m in my pj’s, sitting in my kitchen. I had just finished reading a report about sales targets when I decided to have a quick ciggie before bed. When I sit at night like this I like to have a quick look on Facebook on my phone. So, there I was, flicking through my newsfeed and puffing away; when on my screen appeared the story of the airliner being shot down. Horror shot through me. If I’m totally honest, my first thought was “I’m never flying again” and was quickly replaced with “why?”
It had been reported that a Malaysia Airlines aircraft had been shot down by a missile while flying over Ukraine and 295 people had died. Blame has been passed around by the political parties of the world. Why? I’m not into politics myself, I have the social skills of a wooden spoon at the best of times, so understanding politics is not my strong point. And even if I did understand it, would I want to? You see, I still view the world in a very child-like way. Bad people should be punished, don’t be rude, etc. So the mass killing of people to make a point is pointless to me. The way that politicians act these days is just like a bunch of screaming toddlers that all want the shiny toy that they can’t have and they will smash the life out of the object of their affection so that no-one else can have it either. Well boys, tough tits. That shiny toy is peoples lives, country, job, family. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m tired of having these “powerful people” who are supposed to be looking after us mess everything up. I get it, you want to be the top dog and show the world you are the greatest. Do you know how else wanted to be like that? Hitler.
So, if you want to be the best and go down in history as the best thing since sliced bread instead of a moron, try these ideas out-
- Cure every known disease in the world by giving plenty of funding for medical science and healthcare.
- End war, and I don’t mean “stop dropping bombs”. I mean all forms of war and injustice against all humans regardless of the colour of their skin, their religion or their economic class.
- End poverty by fairly assessing the economic climate and ensuring that corporate tax dodgers pay the appropriate amount of tax instead of using loopholes.
- Clean up the planet by going green and focusing on renewable energy and more sustainable living.
- Make sure every person gets an education.
- Improve on everything that is good in this world.
I’m not perfect, no-one is. But at the very least we could all try and be a little bit less horrible to each other. And who knows, maybe by being just a little bit nicer to each other, we could bring about world peace. Or at the very least, we won’t keep seeing the news filled with tragedies and have to keep asking “why?”
