If you want to stay fit with a job and a family, it can be hard to find the time when your day is jam-packed. Anyone that has even one important responsibility to deal with will agree that there just isn’t enough time in the day for everything they need to do. This is especially true if you have two or three important life responsibilities that other people rely on you to maintain. There are millions of people whose entire life revolves around working and keeping their family healthy and safe. That’s it. No time for hobbies, little time for recreation, and perhaps a day off here and there.

Of course, this isn’t always a bad thing. Having a job is important, as is caring for your loved ones. In fact, some might say the latter is the most important thing anyone could do, and the former helps sustain that, so there we go, everything has been accounted for. There are other duties we know we need to attend to, however. For example – staying fit and healthy and not giving into bad habits can dramatically increase the length and quality of our lifespan. But how can you manage all of that with the aforementioned responsibilities taking up so much of your time?
In this post, we’ll help you achieve exactly that:
Embed Fitness In Your Routine
If you’re shrewd about it, you may find a few worthwhile areas where you can embed fitness into your morning schedule. If you work from home, you might catch up with your emails while walking on a treadmill. You could even buy a standing desk to completely remove the tendency to sit down for long periods at a time – every little approach towards fitness helps.
Perhaps you have twenty minutes in the morning to take your dog for a walk. That can be a good way to get started. On top of that, perhaps there’s a gym near the office, and so you can squeeze in a twenty minute exercise bike workout, take a shower, eat some lunch, and get back to it, completely beating the midday slump of energy that most people go through.
Do What You Can
It’s important to remember that you don’t have to enter a strongman competition anytime soon. Fitness should be functional and primed to what you need. Perhaps you’re looking to rebuild your strength slowly after suffering a difficult illness and time off work. Light weightlifting and stretching can be enough.
We mentioned dog walking above. You’d be amazed at how effective continual, yet reliable walking can be. What matters is staying active. Many people think that they need to work out constantly to stay at a healthy weight, but you don’t. Just make sure you don’t indulge too much in snacking or drinking too much alcohol, figure out your caloric maintenance each day, and try to stick to that. This, alongside your efforts at exercise, can be enough. Just do what you can.
Fitness Can Be Quick
You don’t have to fit in two gym sessions a day or run for an hour to work well. Fifteen minutes on an exercise bike, while your bolognese simmers for family dinner, can be enough if you want to stay fit with a job and a family.
Perhaps you’ll also bind your socializing to fitness, too. You and your partner might decide to take up salsa classes just for the fun of it. You could join an amateur team that lets you kick a football in a five a side match once in a while. As we said, every little really does help, and may assist you in looking at fitness with a sense of inspiration, as opposed to tired obligation.
Diet & Sleep Really Do Matter
Fitness isn’t all about getting ripped or working on your mirror muscles. In fact, it’s rarely about that, unless this is your specific goal. For some people, one of the best things they can do for their fitness and health is to get enough sleep. If you find that you repeatedly only get four or five hours, that’s simply not enough, even if you feel okay with enough caffeine.
That can be more important to sort out – even if that means improving sleep hygiene or visiting a doctor – than adding more wear and tear to your schedule. Sometimes, resting and eating healthier nutrition and supplementation with AthleticStore can truly improve how you feel and how much energy you have. Running on a treadmill compared to that is almost unnecessary.
With this advice, you’re sure to stay fit with a job and a family to run. Put simply – keep it light, do what you can, only spare a small amount of time, and focus on what really matters. This will help you move forward with confidence.
