Who are Oaka Books?
Bambi Gardiner is the founder of Oaka Books, a company that publishes curriculum-based topic packs to boost enthusiasm, understanding and memory recall. Pupils are now getting back into the classroom, these packs are designed to help them learn in a fun, effective way, making the return to school all the more enjoyable. How did my kids react?
My eldest son knows that he has missed a lot of time off school because of Covid. From the lockdowns, to having to isolate because their dad is a front line worker, there are a lot of absences. And, we have the added bonus of his heading off to secondary education in September, so we need to get him caught up with all of the stuff he has missed. As much as I love seeing him read, there is only so much that reading novels will do for him. Giving him the packs was easier than I expected because of the games that are included in every pack. With his siblings, he was more than happy to play the games and brush up on the subjects that he missed. All of the information was easy to read and beautifully displayed within the workbooks. There was even extra information within the packs such as the list of Rulers of England from 1066. I’m a history nerd and struggle to remember all of those names.
Overall, I was happy with the quality of the books and work packs. They were fun and easy to use, and even I learnt a thing or two about the world around me. If Covid19 has taught us anything, it is that time for family and friends is more important than ever, so let’s make learning engaging, creative and effective.
