The venue
The venue of your wedding is pretty important for a few reasons. For one, you need to make sure that your family and friends can get there. If you have a wedding away, there is a chance that some members of your family can’t attend because of the cost or their health. If you are close to your family, have the wedding close to home so that everyone you invite has the opportunity to attend. The dress is not just about the bride (although it is a big part) but you also have the bridesmaids to think about too. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t have a photographer for my wedding day because I had hoped my friends would have snapped plenty of pictures with their own cameras. Let’s face it, we have all heard the stories of ruining wedding photos by sticking their own cameras in the way. Also, we couldn’t afford a photographer. If you are in the same boat as me, you can use a wedding photo sharing site to help build up your own wedding album. I did provide discs for people to put their photos on but nobody gave us them back. For my 10 year anniversary, I plan on getting my dress on and having a proper photoshoot in it with my husband, if we can still fit into our stuff!
The meal
The meal is one of the most important aspects of the wedding because it is what people will talk about because it directly impacts them. At my wedding, there was a large feast of meat and vegetables, a sweet table, and a spread laid out in the evening. Everyone was stuffed and there was a lot of leftover food. To this day, people still talk about the dinner. On the other hand, we have been to a few weddings where the food was not great. At one reception, they ran out of food before they had served all of the guests! Always make sure that you have plenty of food, the guests get a slice of cake, and don’t be afraid to throw a few quid behind the bar so that your guests can enjoy a few drinks too.
