Air travel seems to get scarier and more dangerous as the years go on. Some companies have worse luck than others. But some just don’t care about safety. Here are some of the most deadly airline companies in the world.

Tara Air

This airline company was founded in 2009. Since then they have had more than enough accidents. In 2010 a cabin door flew open during a flight shortly after take off. In 2010 another of its planes crashed shortly after takeoff killing all 22 people on board.

Merpati Airlines

This Indonesian airline company was founded in 1962. Since 1971 there have been a string of accidents. 1972 a man attempted to hijack a plane but was killed during the incident. In 1995 one of their planes went missing and has never been found.

Sriwijaya Air

This is Indonesia’s third largest airline carrier. They have had several accidents between 2008 and 2012. The planes used by the company are so old and damaged that the company is banned from flying in certain parts of the world.

Ariana Afghan Airways

This company has been banned from flying in Europe since 2006. It was founded in 1955 and has had over 13 incidents since then. One of its planes crashed at London Gatwick airport in 1969, killing everyone on board. Around 150 people have died while flying with them.

Nepal Airlines

They might be the flag carrier of Nepal but they are still banned from flying in Europe. Since they were founded in 1960 there have been many accidents. These include crashing into a tree and being hijacked. Over 100 people have died while flying with them.

Air Bagan

This company has only been running since 2004 but it already has had plenty of accidents. On 25th December 2012, on of their planes had a crash landing and killed one person. On 19th February 2000, a plane overshot a runway and injured two people.

Bluewing Airlines

This South American airline company was founded in 2002. They were blacklisted from flying in Europe after some safety concerns. In 2008 one of their planes crashed into the jungle and burst into flames. It was 150 meters from the airstrip. Nearly 30 people have died while flying with them.

Daallo Airlines

This is a Somali owned airline company and was founded in 1991. In 2009 one of their planes was hijacked during a flight. Only one month later a man attempted to smuggle chemicals onto a plane in a failed bomb attack. Passengers have been known to be armed.

SCAT Airlines

This airline is based in Kazakhstan. In 2013 a plane crashed due to poor visibility and killed all 21 people on board. In 2015 a plane exploded at Aktau Airport because of a oxygen cylinder. Safety standards are so low that they are banned from flying in Europe.

Susi Air

This airline flies to over 150 destinations but none of them are in Europe. Their poor safety standard means that United States Embassy personnel are no longer allowed to fly with them. At least two of their planes have crashed over mountain ranges.

Lion Air

This company was founded in 2000 in Indonesia. They had suffered many accidents and have killed over 25 people since they were founded. Accidents have included hitting a cow in 2013 and landing without nose gear in 2009. Poor safety and accidents mean they are banned from flying in Europe.

Kam Air

Kam Air headquarters are in Kabul, Afghanistan. They were banned from flying in Europe after a crash at Manston Airport in the United Kingdom in 2010. In 2005 one of their planes crashed in the mountains in Kabul, killing all 104 people on board.
