Love in Lockdown || How the lockdown is shaping our love lives

A world in lockdown has been a challenge for most people. For weeks, we haven’t seen our loved ones. Or, if we have, it has been from a distance and through a barrier of glass. So how is the world of relationships changing? And will we ever get back to normal?

We miss our loved ones

I never realised how much I would miss seeing my extended family. I don’t see them very much because we are all working and raising our families, but at least we had the option to pop in for a quick cuppa. Now we have to schedule a video chat to see people’s lips move and listen to their voices. On the plus side, we have the ability to get together online see each other. During the 1918 pandemic, they weren’t so lucky. And with the lockdown and social distancing measures set to be the new normal, we might have to get used to looking at our loved ones through a pane of glass to hand over Christmas presents. The plus side is, when the vaccine is finally developed, I will be looking forward to a massive family holiday. Or a big party.

Marriage breakdowns

I heard a rumour that lots of people were filing for divorce after spending too much time with their significant other in lockdown. If that is true, it makes you wonder why some people got married in the first place. I was once told that you shouldn’t marry someone unless you can survive a camping trip out in the wilderness together. Or a trip to Ikea on a Bank Holiday. Thankfully, I listened to that advice and I know that I can survive with my husband for the long haul. Admittedly, when this is over and the grandparents can safely babysit again, I’m booking a weekend away and going into my own personal lockdown with my hubby, if ya know what I mean *wink wink*. I know that sex in Birmingham isn’t the first thing that people will be thinking about when lockdown is over but I’ll travel anywhere for some quiet time with my husband.

All the single peps

It’s been a while since I was single so you will have to forgive me for being out of touch with how the dating world works. When I was single, we went to bars and clubs to meet people, or you got your friends to introduce you to new people. Just as I was getting together with my husband, there was an explosion of websites, such as www.leedssexsite.co.uk, to help people meet up. We could end up seeing an explosion of these kinds of sites as people seek out new relationships and human connections once we are out of lockdown. I even heard a rumour that bars might want to join forces with these sites to help get people back into them as a new and improved version of singles night.

Whatever your current situation is, there is light at the end of the tunnel. It won’t be long before the lockdown is completely gone and we can give everyone we meet a hug. I’ll be there with my free hugs sign.
