When I was growing up, my grandparents made a big deal out of Easter. When I grew up, I didn’t manage to make it as special for myself as I would have liked. But this year, after everything that has happened, I think we need to treat ourselves. We deserve it. Here are some ideas on how to create your own special Easter basket as a grown-up.

Drinks
Getting a nice bottle of bubbly is great at Christmas, so why can’t we dish them out at Easter too? Of course, if you don’t drink, this might be a tough one but there are loads of grown-up juices to choose from. Getting a bottle of a lighter spirit or something that can be used to create some summer cocktails is a great addition to the home bar. Whatever your choice is, just make sure it comes in a pretty glass bottle. You could even get some new glasses for the garden to enjoy your favourite tipple as the plastic picnic gear is far from the ugly stuff we had as kids.
Jewellery
One of the best things about being a grown-up is getting to choose your own accessories to cover yourself with. During the spring and summer, lighter jewellery is always a nice option to have. For me, I like to wear AC Silver all year round but I do have friends who like to rotate from silver in the spring to yellow gold in the summer, before moving to rose gold in the autumn. Easter time is a great time to pick out those smaller pieces of jewellery that you can wear in the warmer weather. You could even go a bit further and get some cute Easter themed jewellery such as a gold chick or a cute little rabbit brooch to make your outfit a bit extra for the holiday.
Chocolate
Who said that chocolate was only for kids? I am a big fan of chocolate and I love getting Easter eggs. When I started going out with my husband, he was excited that I still liked Easter eggs. Every year, we pick out some giant eggs for each other. There are plenty of other Easter treats you can choose from. From chocolate bunnies, grown-up eggs, and cakes, there are plenty of sweet treats to choose from. You could even get a bit crafty and make your own chocolate treats.

Shoes
As a kid, my granny used to buy me shoes in the spring. Were they for Easter? I can’t remember, yet the idea of getting fresh shoes when the warmer weather rolls around is exciting. It is around this time that the shoe stores have received a lot of their summer stock. This includes sandals, flip-flops, and cute pumps. I think this is a great excuse to treat yourself to some new summer shoes, you could even get an entire outfit for your grown-up Easter gift.
A rescue animal
Ok, this one might be a bit of a weird one but hear me out. In the spring, there are thousands of baby animals born. Most of them are born for a reason but some are abandoned or neglected. Animal shelters are packed to the gills with unwanted puppies that were Christmas presents that are not working for the people who got them. Or there is an abundance of kittens from cats who haven’t been sprayed. If you can, consider helping the animal shelters by fostering some newborn kittens or adopting an abandoned puppy. You can even rescue chickens that have been used in battery farms.
And there you have it, some ideas for a grown-up Easter. You could even put your gift ideas in a gift basket with some Easter decorations to make it extra special. Even if the gift basket is for yourself, you can still make it pretty, you deserve it.
