There are a lot of things that I do on a daily basis to help keep me looking fresh; the shower and make-up are just part of a much bigger routine. Beyond the basics of cleansing, moisturising and a good deodorant, I have some little extras that I do too. Here are some things I will never give up doing as part of my routine.

Eyelashes
I feel like an unfortunate soul with my eyes because the shape of them makes me look as though I am knackered. The only thing that I have found to help reduce the exhausted look on my face is using fake eyelashes. I’m not skilled at applying them myself so I have to go once a month and have extensions applied. You may have seen my Instagram posts of my lashes when they have been reapplied and admired the fluffy curves of my fresh lashes. During Covid, when everything was shut, I had to go without them and I felt naked without them! The best thing about wearing the extensions is that I can go without makeup because they are pretty enough to stand alone.
Hair
If there is one thing that I have been blessed with, it is a head of thick hair. However, if it was starting to thin, I would consider Picasso Scalp Micropigmentation to help fill out those areas that could be thinning. For the moment, my hair is so thick and heavy it can give me migraines! I tend to dye my hair every two months but I avoid using bleach. Don’t get me wrong, I have used bleach many times over the years but I would like to avoid any more damage to my hair, I’m not ready for scalp micropigmenation just yet. As well as being really heavy, my hair needs to be washed every day too because it gets very greasy. Once a week, I like to cover it with a hair mask to help keep it silky and repair any damage.
Vitamins
When I was growing up, some of my friends didn’t believe that healthy eating was real and it was all a gimmick. Not the smartest thing to believe but that is not the point here. One place where this mis-information was clear was on their faces. Each one of them suffered from bad spots and had terrible skin. As someone who ate healthy food, my face never broke out in spots, something that I manage to maintain to this day by eating sweet stuff in moderation. I also ensure that my skin looks great by taking multi-vitamins and collagen drinks. Everyone is different and what your body needs will be different from your friends, but it is worth your while having a look to see what is out there to help keep you healthy on the inside and the outside.
Hair removal
This one is a bit of a sticky subject (and not just because I like waxing). Everyone has a different opinion on hair removal and many people are against it. That is fine, you do you. I, on the other hand, like having my skin hair-free. Honestly, if there was an option to dip me in wax (leaving my eyebrows, eyelashes, and the hair on my head) I would do it. And yes, I wax. I am a very hairy person so shaving doesn’t last as long as it should. Waxing or epilation are my go-to treatments for hair removal. I like to do as much as I can myself, however, I do enjoy heading to my favourite salon and getting them to give me a hand. If my hair was lighter, I would probably cut back on the hair removal but I love the feeling of a freshly defuzzed leg.
Nail maintenance
Just like my hair, I have been blessed with strong nails. However, my nail maintenance is not the same as everyone else’s. Because my nails are so strong and grow quickly, they have to be trimmed and cut quite a lot. I do love having long nails but they tend to get in the way, not great when you are trying to type fast. They can also hurt people if I am not careful. My husband has received the occasional stab in the arm. I have a small mountain of nail polish to help them look pretty when they are short so they are not neglected, just tidy. One of the reasons why they are so strong is probably due to my diet and vitamins, but I wouldn’t rule out having gels or acrylics to add some length for a night out.
And there you have it, five things that I do to help make my daily beauty routine a lot easier. What things do you do to make your beauty routine easier? Let me know in the comments section.
