How To Ensure Your Business Is Eco-Friendly

If you have just started a business from scratch then you will want to do everything in your power to ensure it lasts a long time. You may be aware that a whopping 90% of businesses don’t make it to their first year of trading. This is due to them not having a strong enough idea or team behind them. It could also be that they haven’t connected well enough with their customers and clients. Certain people are looking for things from businesses before they part with their hard-earned cash. An example of this is eco-friendly businesses, they tend to go a bit further and have more valued customers than others. Take a look below to find out how you can ensure your business is eco-friendly.

Recycle

One of the first steps to making your business is eco-friendly. Recycling is more than just putting your empty water bottle in the recycling bin. It is all about how you can save on your waste within your business. You can even use recycled products such as writing paper and hand paper towels in the kitchen. Of course, you can only recycle if your staff are up for it as well. When you hire people, ensure you tell them of your recycling and eco-friendly efforts. They will be more than happy to help you with your recycling. Throughout the office, you could have several different recycling and waste paper bins dotted around. You could also put up reminders to staff to recycle their used products.

Transport

When it comes to your business it may be unavoidable to have a fleet of vehicles that your staff use. This is fine as long as you keep in mind your environmentally friendly values. Try and opt for either electric or hybrid cars when you shop around for the vehicle of choice. It also comes down to the fuels and lubricants you use in your vehicles. Choose ones that won’t harm the planet when they exit your cars. This requires some research but it is worth it to ensure your business is eco-friendly.

Renewable Energy

If you want to ensure your business isn’t harming the planet and save some money while doing that, then think about using renewable energy to power your business. You may have seen lots of wind farms around lately. This is because more and more businesses are resorting to renewable energy sources for electricity. This not only cuts your energy bills in half but looks great when customers come and shop with you. You will open your business to so many more people if you rely on renewable energy.

Planet Friendly Products

Finally, there are certain products you can buy that are made of recycled items or that are more eco-friendly than others. These usually cost more but you won’t need to use as much, an example of this is washing-up liquid. The bottle will be recycled and the liquid itself won’t contain any harmful toxins. However, you don’t need to use as much as normal washing-up liquid so you will save money as well as the planet. You can also buy recycled toilet paper to use in the toilets, again the rolls are usually longer and thicker due to the nature of the paper itself. Shop around for the best products that you think will fit in well with your business and ethos.
