Getting the right fuel into your body for those big runs is important, but what do you use? There are so many options available! Kate Percy has sent me some of her new fruity Go Bites to taste test and see how they stack up against the competition.

As you can see by the little disclaimer there, I got sent these for free to test out. Why? Because I have a big fan of Go Bites for at least a year, probably a lot longer actually. Last year, I worked with Kate on my marathon training. Before that, she sent me her cookbook to test out (something that I still use), and I’ve reviewed the original Go Bites too. So when the new ones were ready, I was over the moon that they all thought of me.
What are Go Bites?
The original Go Bites are awesome little balls of fuel that you can easily carry on your running pouch for fuel on long runs. I am a big fan of them because they don’t set my stomach off, and as an IBS sufferer, this is a big deal. I don’t tend to fuel for longer runs because of my stomach but these are easy on the gut. They are high in fibre and packed with protein, so even if you don’t have IBS they are good for your gut. But while they have these lovely extras, there is a lot of stuff that is left out, like sugar, dairy, and gluten.
What are the new flavours?
The original flavours are great, very moreish. I enjoy snacking on them even when I’m not training or running. So why mess with something so good? They haven’t taken away the other flavours, but they have added to the line up.
- Raspberry and Cacao
- Strawberry and Cashew
- Blackcurrant and Blueberry
The raspberry and cacao had a real taste of chocolate with the zingy flavour raspberry mixed in. I would happily swap my afternoon biscuits that I have with my tea for this flavour. The strawberry and cashew flavour is more of a fruity flavour and were very nice for breakfast. Yes, I had a packet for breakfast one morning. The blackcurrant and blueberry are by far my favourite with the rice protein and the tart taste of blackcurrant. Protein is the thing that really helps with my tummy and prevents any “upsets”, if ya know what I mean…..
