Personal trainers are a good way to take your health and fitness goals to the next level. They provide you with advice, support, and motivation for reaching those goals. Now that you have done the research to find a trainer perfect for you, you have asked the right questions, you know their qualifications and they have the important credentials, and your friend referred you to them, here are some tips to help you get the most out of your personal trainer.

Give It Your All
No one can make you do anything. You have to want it for yourself and you have to show up. Do not do it for your trainer. Do it for you! Do not go into your personal training with the bad habit of doing half the work. Give it your all and you can be guaranteed you will see results. It may not happen overnight, but they are right around the corner.
Talk To Your Trainer
Like any relationship, one with your trainer is a two-way street. If you need help doing an exercise, ask for help. If you are unsure of what to do on your off days, ask for guidance. If your personal trainer is a yeller and you do not respond well to that, let them know. They are there to help you! Take advantage of it. Always be communicative about what is working for you and what is not.
Adopt A Regular Workout Schedule
Sticking to a regular workout schedule is a sure-fire way to reach your goals. Since it is something you know will occur, similar to you knowing what days you have to go to work and what time you need to be there, you will most likely stick with it. Derek DeGrazio, a celebrity trainer based out of Miami, told Glamour, “I would recommend starting with three workouts per week — twice with your trainer and once on your own.”
Take Time To Learn The Technique
Since you are working with someone who is very knowledgeable about what to do in a workout or at a gym, it can be easy to start to rely on them for insight or to correct you every time your form is not right. Resist this urge by learning the techniques for yourself while you do them. Pay attention to how your muscles feel when in certain positions and be observant about the corrections your personal trainer may make. Learning the technique can be good for when you may have reached your fitness goals, but still want to keep working out in your lifestyle.
These are only a few tips to getting the most out of your personal trainer. Remember to show up for yourself, stick to a workout schedule, be communicative with your trainer, and learn the techniques to sustain and maintain your goals. You are right! Nobody can make you do something unless you really want to. But a personal trainer is super helpful to push your limits.
This is great advice. I think the best part of it is that they need to do it for themselves, not the trainer. My trainer had no clue I was dealing with gallstone issues so he couldn’t help me further. Had I talked to him freely he may have been able to help me through that process, and I’d be in even better shape than I am now.
This sure are helpful tips! I find it much better to have a personal trainer.
