Travel and I have never been the best of friends, but I was getting cosy with the idea of world travel when the pandemic hit. I’ve spend the last few years exploring the local landscapes and I feel it is time to spread my wings and see a bit more of the world. But why the sudden urge to travel? For the last 30-odd years, I have been a supporter of the Manchester United Football Club. It doesn’t matter if you like them or loathe them as a team, they have been a great source of entertainment over the years and I have enjoyed watching their matches. But, although I love the beautiful game, I have never been to Old Trafford. On the other hand, my husband has been there a lot.
Hiking offers so many different possibilities other than it representing an excellent form of exercise. It is, after all, more of a test of endurance than a walk. It, rather pleasingly, takes place in the areas where the air is purer and challenges us on terrain that is different from just the flat monotonous ground found in cities and more urban spaces.
Strathclyde is a large area on the west side of Scotland that I have been lucky to visit several times over the course of my life. So why not take an imaginary road trip in your mind with me and plan out your next day trip?
