Empties from the bathroom || June 2016

Some people wonder why I bother to do this, show you guys the empties from my bathroom. The simple fact is that I like to completely test these products, right down to the last drop before I cast judgement on them. That, and I like to use so many different products that I need to justify why my bathroom smells like a whores handbag when I’m done grooming myself.

As usual I have left affiliate links in here so if you click and buy something, the site makes a small commission.

Tesco Extracts Body Butter

This was a little body butter that I got as part of a Christmas present. That’s why I still have cranberry stuff floating around my bathroom. But I actually like the smell of cranberry and I would be happy to use it all year round. Anyway, that is not the point here. How did the little tub of Tesco cream do? Surprisingly well actually. It was a thick cream that smelt good and melted easily into my skin.

Boots Creamy Handwash

I had picked this handwash up for quickness one day but it proved to be a good buy. The handwash was creamy and lasted a good while in my bathroom. I admit this was a bargain buy at the time but it proved itself to be pretty good. It doesn’t have anti-bac or a fancy smell but as a random hand soap, it done the job.

Boots Conditioner

This is what I call my spare conditioner. When I have a matching shampoo and conditioner, and use all of the conditioner up, leaving just the shampoo, I use this instead. That probably doesn’t make much sense to you but I’m a bit OCD about mixing shampoos and conditioners. This is a random one I keep as a backup. Anyway, I love this as my back-up. It is light and doesn’t leave a heavy residue if you use it every day. It’s also good to use as a break in-between intense conditioners.

Aussie Conditioner

Aussie Reconstructor 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner

This is one of my favourite conditioners of all time. The 3-minute miracle is one of those products that actually does exactly what it says it can do. Because it is made with balm mint, it has a refreshing minty scent that isn’t overpowering. This has been a go-to product of mine for years and I loved how I got my hands on a wee sample of it there.

L’Oreal Elvive

L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Conditioner 500ml

I had been wanting to try this stuff for ages and I finally got my hands on a little sample. This is the newest from the L’Oreal range and is made from clay. Sounds gross but the idea is that the clay provides balance in your hair, absorbing grease at the roots and moisture at the tips. Although I only had a small sample, I was happy to try it out. The result was surprisingly good for one use.

This is one of those brands that people have been less than kind to over the years. I used to know a girl, who believed she knew everything, and she claimed that using TresSemme products caused baldness. She also argued that the earth could be flat because she didn’t know anyone that has travelled the whole way around. The lesson here, don’t always listen to people who claim to know the facts. Now here is my opinion! This sea-salt foam was ideal for ladies who like to do a bit of a vintage do with their hair. It was brilliant at providing texture to make hair more workable.

Ren Skincare

Face by REN Clean Skincare V-Cense Revitalising Night Cream 50ml

I’m not a fan of night cream, mainly because it tends to smell. This stuff kind of smelt. But, in saying that, it done a good job. This is one of those products that the good outweighs the bad. Yes, it smelt kind of funky.  But when I woke up in the morning, you could tell that I had been using something the night before. Also, it wasn’t really tacky the way some night creams are. You know what I mean, you put it on and next thing your hair is stuck to your face.

AA Skincare

Just like the night cream, this is one of those products that had it’s good points and bad. Good point, it was natural and good for you. Bad point, it was natural and didn’t give long lasting protection. I found myself having to apply this roll-on several times a day to stay fresh. That might seem like a pain but there was a plus side to this. I had really dry skin under my arms and this roll-on acted like a moisturiser. I suppose it depends on how you feel about natural deodorants. I have a friend who will only wear natural, regardless of how many times she has to apply it a day. I liked this stuff. I thought it was decent for being natural.

Boots Baby Talc

This might be surprising but I really like using talc. It’s actually very useful in the summer. Have you ever had problems getting into your clothes when the summer heat hits? Talc is the answer to your problem. It’s also really handy to take to the beach with you. It helps to remove the sand from your hands, feet and bum-crack. The talc absorbs the moisture that makes the sand stick to you. Recently I have been using baby talc to help me stay a bit more comfortable in the summer heat. I really like the smell of this one, and because it is baby talc, everyone in the family can use it.

PitROK Crystal Deodorant Wipes Fragranced for Women – Pack of 20 Wipes

This is one of those products I had high hopes for it ended up falling flat. When I first got these I had planned on keeping them for use over the summer. But the pregnancy sweats started and I had to stick them in my handbag. The actual wipes were grand and helped to keep me fresh. But the packaging was a massive fail. The sticky bit never really stayed on and at some point it fell over completely. This meant the wipes that remained went dry very quickly. If I could get my mitts on a mini tub, like the old travel packs of baby wipes used to come in, then I would consider buying these again.

Tesco My Senses

I got this because I was curious to see if it would work as well as Radox for my back. Yes, old lady here, I suffer from back pain. So a weekly bath to loosen the joints is on the cards for me, forever. I know, I’m so hard done by. Anyway, this stuff wasn’t half bad. It had a nice smell and provided a nice bubble. It was also half the price of Radox, just saying.

Dove Shower Cream

Dove Nourishing Body Wash, 250ml

Dove shower cream. I will admit, if you watch the video, you will see how excited I was about this. NOT! I don’t know what I was expecting from this but I was left a bit deflated. Yes, it was moisturising and it smelt nice, but that was it. I really don’t know what to say. It was nice. It wasn’t exciting. There was no exotic magic to it. It was shower cream. I’d probably buy it again but I wouldn’t get excited about it.

Boots Essentials

With all these fancy face wipes out there, I thought I would go back to basics. I found these face wipes in Boots and I thought they might be a good alternative to try. These ended up being a great buy. They removed make-up (not all of it but enough that I was happy with). You might need an extra eye make-up remover but it depends on how much make-up you wear. I loved the cooling effect of the cucumber on my face and the light fragrance.

Beaver Shampoo

This was a fab wee shampoo that I managed to get a few uses out of, despite the tiny bottle. It had a nice scent and was surprising moisturising for being a shampoo. Depending on the condition of your hair, you might just get away with using this by itself. I was able to use a light conditioner with this and was left super soft hair. What is really good about this is how you might be able to avoid a build up of product in your hair.
