Let's stay in || A new style of dating

The world is a bit topsy-turvy at the minute, and while I want to be cheery (because I’m a glass half full kinda gal) it feels kinda wrong. Let’s face facts kids, the world will never be the same again.

Physical contact feels weird

I am a hugger. If you get to know me and become my friend, I will hug you. I will call you gorgeous if I see you out and about. And if you see me with a few drinks in me, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will smack your ass. I am an affectionate person. So, can you imagine how hard it is for me when I saw one of my oldest friends out in the local shop? It nearly killed me not being able to give him a hug.  It’s not like I met him on a Cardiff dating site and this was the first time I had laid eyes on him. He’s one of my best buds and I can’t even hug him.  So, what will it be like when we are allowed to hug again? It’s probably gonna be weird.

Vetted first dates

Going on a first date is gonna be a strange one for people after they have been isolating. Maybe the thought of getting out there on the dating scene is not the funfilled experience that it once was. Not that I have any idea what Merseyside dating or any other dating scene is like (what? I’m married!) I do know that any first dates will probably be vetted by those nearest and dearest to us. I don’t mean police background checks and full relationship rundown but I know that people will want to keep a closer eye on our friends. We don’t want to curb your fun but we do want you to be safe.

But we are gonna party!

I honestly believe, once the dust has settled and we can all be together again in large groups, there is going to be one hell of a party! The day that restrictions are lifted, the popstars may break out the glitter and the booty shaking, because we are gonna party like it’s 1999! For those of you who don’t remember the Y2K paranoia, when the year 2000 rolled around, we were ripping it up with the party to end all partied because the world was “going to end”. Well, we are living through history right now, we deserve to celebrate when it is all said and done. How you party is up to you. Wanna get some Derby sex? Go on ahead. Wanna have a street party with your neighbours? Awesome.

There will be a new normal

Every 100 years, the world gets upended somehow.  It sucks how it is happening, let’s be clear about that. However, when the dust settles there will be a new normal. Like I have said, going outside and hugging your friends is going to be weird. A lot of people might find that they can work from home now if they want to. People might be more adventurous and fancy trying a bit of Oxfordshire sex while being closer to nature (although, legally, I do not recommend doing the nasty outside because that is still illegal and the police have drones that can spot your now). We can all feel the changes and our habits are changing. So brace yourself for the new normal.
