how to throw a great party

If we’re being honest, most of us love a good party and wouldn’t say no to being invited to one if the person throwing it knows how to throw a shin-dig and is someone who we get along well with. However, if you’re throwing your first party or you just don’t even know where to start with throwing one if it’s a special occasion, then in this post we’re going to share with you some of our top tips for how you can throw a great party no matter what.

Set a budget

When planning something fun, of course, it can be easy to get carried away and start buying all the things because you think that they’re going to make it better, but in reality that can end up getting out of control and you can end up spending far more than you ever anticipated on one single party, so the best thing that you can do is to set a budget straight off the bat so that you don’t get carried away when it comes to the spending side of things.

If you need help setting a budget for your party because you don’t know how much things are actually going to cost, then a good starting place would be to have a look online and get an average idea of the prices around so that you know what you may have to budget for certain things like food, entertainment and even a venue.

Choose a theme

Theme parties are always good fun to go to if it’s a good theme, and you certainly don’t have to be a professional party planner to have a themed party. You can choose to have anything that you like, but it’s always important that if you’re going to have a theme that you pick one in advance and that you let people know in advance as far as possible – especially if it’s going to be something like fancy dress or if they have to bring certain props or certain things to the party to fit in with that particular theme.

If you don’t want to go with a theme, then that’s also fine, but letting people know in advance whether or not there’s going to be a theme is a good idea. If you need help with picking a party theme, then you can have a look on places like Pinterest and Instagram or even just Googling party themes to get an idea and some inspiration for what kind of things you might enjoy and what might suit the party that you’re throwing.

Pick a venue

It’s obviously very important for people to know where the party is going to be, so picking your venue and organising this as soon as you know you’re going to have a party is one of the most important things. It’s also a good idea to perhaps have a backup venue in place just in case something goes wrong at the last minute and you need to change things.

Decide what’s included

It’s important when planning your party that you know what you’re going to be paying for, so for example, if you’re going to be including a free bar then this is going to be something that will be included in your earlier budget, or if you’re perhaps only going to include a few drinks through tokens, then this is also something that you should be aware of from the start. The same thing goes with food, and also things like entertainment, so that you know, for example, if you have to buy things like professional singing equipment, props and other items that are going to be included in the party.

Shop around for equipment

When planning your party, it is always a good idea to shop around as much as possible – especially when it comes to things like the drinks or food and entertainment, and also equipment, since it can be expensive and you can always usually work out a good deal on things like this if you know how to shop around instead of just going with first place that you find.

I hope that you found this post useful and that it shows that you definitely don’t have to be a professional party planner in order to throw a great party these days, and you can find great things online on places like eBay, and even just in your local supermarket and department stores for helping you to throw a great party.
