I have nothing to say….

I have nothing to say....

Do you ever feel like your brain is buzzing with stuff so you must have something to say? But when you get the chance to put out those thoughts into the world, you lose your voice? That’s how I feel right now. That I have nothing to say. Is there anything to say?

Because we live in a world where money is needed to survive, Latte Lindsay runs a number of affiliate programmes and offers contributed or partnered content. One of the beautiful things about social media and the world of blogging is that you have a place where you can say whatever you want to say. If it’s hate speech, it might get taken down. If it’s boring, it will be ignored. After 10 years of blogging and a heap of life experience, I thought I would have something to say. Turns out I don’t. And what I do have to say is boring or a reaction to the current world events. Then I realised, we are all the same, reacting to the world around us in a way that is noticeable but not necessarily in line with our own values.

I’m a bit of a TikTok addict, which might be a surprise after my whole put down your phone and live your life thing a few years ago. As I was scrolling, I noticed that a lot of the content I was seeing was a reaction to what was happening in the world. There were a few videos that made original content that was not a reaction to current events that showed up on my feed but not a lot. For example, at the time of writing this, the Tories have called for an election, as well as proclaiming that young people will have to do National Service when they turn 18. After the first few videos, I had a good idea of what was happening. But they just kept coming. Video after video of the same thing (I know that has to do with the algorithm) but nobody had any original thoughts on what was happening. Maybe I was looking at the wrong accounts, or maybe everyone has the same thoughts on it, who knows? But still, it was reacting without adding much more to the conversation.

When I started The Weekly a few months ago, I had hoped that I would have something of value to say each week that was different from my usual content. A soap box to express my views in an online world. The problem is, I’m not the only one with a soapbox, there are millions (if not billions) of people who have louder voices, bolder opinions, and a whole heap of showmanship that keeps people coming back. My advantage to this is that I have been here longer than most people, my soapbox is mine and not at the mercy of social media mega minds who can switch it off when they want to, and I can talk a lot longer than any of them. In the space of time it has taken you to get to the bottom of this post, you could have watched 3 TikTok videos. Yep, I can out-talk the lot of them.

The point is, we all have something to say. We all like a good gossip. Talking and forming complex thoughts is what makes us human. And my soapbox might be a lot smaller than others, it is mine. I can say whatever I want. Even if that does mean that I have nothing to say….
