Valentine's day and the curse of no dates

Happy Valentine’s Day! Regardless of what your personal situation is, Valentine’s Day is about love in all it’s forms. But love shouldn’t be confined to one day a year! And that’s why I’m here, to be your personal love guru….or at least be the person to poke you a bit and point at a nice bum.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I’ve found some fun facts about love, romance and the dating scene in certain areas. Hold on to your hats! The Love Guru is here to give you some inspiration for bringing some love into your life, regardless of the day or if you have a date.

Did you know that the spires of the University of Oxford are one of the reasons why it is a popular tourist spot? And that is the only pretty place that would make a perfect date. There are loads of rivers and canals for boating activities if you fancy a nice day out. And if you are single, it might amuse you to know that dating Oxfordshire locals has its advantages. The area is well known for its culture but there are more pigs in the county than people! There’s a fun fact to break the ice at dinner!

Western Isles

The Western Isles, or the Outer Hebrides, is one of the oldest places on Earth. The geology of the bedrock says so. And so do the Callanish Stones which date from 2900BC. Speaking of dating in Western Isles, there is a lot to do for days out. If geology doesn’t rock your socks off, then maybe a trip to one of the castles will be a romance trip. Or you can have a stroll through one of the Insta-worthy villages and harbours.

During the 15th and 16th century, Bristol was one of the most important trading spots in the British kingdom. Now it is one of the top ten cities to visit in the UK. The city has cemented itself as one of the top leisure spots in the UK. Dating in Bristol would never be boring! There are hot air balloon rides, loads of landmarks to visit, the list is probably endless!

Isn’t that where the Queen lives? No, it’s not, but it could be the perfect place to be treated like royalty.  It doesn’t matter if you are single or taken, Buckinghamshire has plenty for everyone. If you are single in Buckinghamshire, then you can enjoy the sights and the food by yourself (or with a friend). If you are dating in Buckinghamshire, then you can mix things up with a trip to the indoor ski centre.

Belfast might not seem like the most romantic city in the world but there is plenty to do. Did you know that Game of Thrones was filmed just outside of Belfast? Dating in Belfast can be a fun experience with the moving bars (yes, that is a thing) or showing off your moves on a trampoline. Or if you fancy being really romantic, you can head to the docks where the Titanic was built.

And there you have it, some fun stuff to inspire for your next big date. What would your ideal Valentine’s Day date be?
