8 Things That Women Can Do To Elevate Others And Level The Playing Field

For the last hundred years or so, women have been fighting hard to get access to basic rights. Since the crusade began, we have gained access to being able to vote and the workplace. But there is still work to do, and there is a lot you can do in your everyday life to help. One of those things that women can do is to try to elevate others.

The idea of elevating others is a simple one that can have a huge effect on your life and society. However, it is one that we seem to have a hard time with. We have been taught that there is not enough room for everyone at the table of success but this is a lie. There is plenty of room and the people who have been sitting at the table don’t want to share. But now is your chance to turn the table and get other people to get people closer to the table. It is time to do the right thing and raise up the people around us.

Educate yourself

One of the most important tools that we have at our disposal is our brain. The beautiful blob of flesh and electricity is responsible for everything that we experience in this world and the more knowledge we can feed it, the better. There are many different ways that you can feed your brain and there is an endless amount of information in the world. The question is, what subjects and knowledge will serve you and the world the best?

There are things that you can learn that will help your family immediately, such as learning to cook better food, or learning to manage your finances better. Then there are the subjects that can help the world be a better place. Learning about economics so that you can manage your business better, or learning about current events so that you can make more informed decisions about charity. There are endless options but it is a good idea to choose a few different subjects that will provide you with balance.

Know your rights

This might seem like an obvious one but it is surprising how many people don’t know their basic rights. And, while it might sound easy enough to look them up, it isn’t always that easy. For one thing, legal research is hard. Learning how to do legal research can make a big difference. Having that basic level of knowledge can help to understand the law and help to keep you on the right side of things.

The flip side of this is if you know your rights, you can help other people to understand theirs. Every just a little tweet about a certain misconception has the potential to affect countless people. If you have any questions about the legal world, it is a good idea to do some research and consult a professional. Every human has basic rights, make sure that yours are not being trampled on.

Acts of kindness

Being kind is one of the most generous things that you can do with your time and your money. You don’t have to spend a small fortune helping others but small acts of kindness can have a big impact. You don’t even need to help others, just be kind to them. For example, you should be kind to the person bringing your food to a restaurant. Pick up your rubbish or help tidy up.

The simple fact is, we have no idea what other people are going through in the day, and if you are kind to people, it won’t make their day any worse. This might sound a little backwards but it is the least you can do. The last thing that you want to do is make someone’s day worse by being horrible to them. It can even be as simple as keeping your comments to yourself, especially online.

Respect others

This can be a tough one because not all people will respect you or are worthy of your respect. Respect is one of those words that gets thrown around and many people have forgotten what it means. This point links into our previous point about being kind. You might not have it in you to agree with someone, and you might have a hard time showing them kindness. But you can still respect their decisions.

Respecting others does not mean that you have to bow down and listen to everything they say. You can respect a person for their moral values, you can respect a person’s decisions for their choice of actions. However, if those actions don’t line up with our own moral guidelines, the decisions to respect those choices become tricky. One of the easiest ways to respect others is to treat them with care.

Be the support

You might have noticed that the climb that you had was a tough one because you had to do it all by yourself. You might not have had a support system in place to help you, but there is no reason why you can’t form one to help others. This is your opportunity to become the support that you wanted to see in the world.

If you want to be more supportive of the people around you, one of the simplest things that you can do is listen to them. You might not have any advice that you can give them, but listening is a great place to start. Of course, if you are feeling generous with your time and emotions, you could set up a small group to help people achieve their goals.

Don’t complain

As tempting as it might be to unload and scream your complaints to the wind, will it really help anyone? Sure, you might feel better for a few minutes but that is it. Complaining doesn’t tend to get people anywhere. Of course, you should vent and unload your worries but there are other things that you can do.

If you have discovered that something is not up to par with your expectations, you should make a note of it so that you can review it. Reviewing is a great way to assess what is working for you. It is at this point that you can give constructive feedback. Keep in mind, this is not the same as complaining. When you complain, you only state what is wrong, feedback allows you to provide a solution or a good look at what went wrong.

Check your ambition

What is your ambition for this world? We are sure that being rich and powerful is in the mix, and while there is nothing wrong with that,  you should check where that ambition is taking you. Do you want to be successful by helping others or by taking advantage? This is why you need to check your ambition every so often. Even if you believe that what you are doing is a good thing, you should still check in on it to ensure it is doing what you want.

Ambition can be a great thing but it should not get in the way of everything else. There are different types of ambitions and you should have a few different ones, and this can be a bit like the knowledge point. For one, there are ambitions that only matter to you and have no direct effect on the outside world. Then there are the ones that will affect your business life and your wealth. And finally, there are the ones that affect the world around, such as helping remove child poverty.

Be vulnerable

One of the hardest things we can do with the world is to show our soft side. The vulnerable underbelly of who we are. Sometimes, this is one of the most important things that you can do to help people. Many people are out there, seeking out a connection that they will not find if everyone keeps their guard up. Ask yourself this, how many times have you felt empowered after seeing someone bare their soul online and have let you in on a big secret.

If you feel that you don’t have anything worthwhile to share, that is fine. At some point in the future, you might look back and realise that by being honest, you have helped to empower people. Maybe it will be the single moms who think they can’t balance success with raising a child. Or maybe it will help young girls seeing someone like them up on a stage will fire them up to be a better version of themselves. You never know what part of you people will find inspiration.

As you can see, there are many different ways to raise others up by your own actions. Don’t discount the impact that you can have on the world and how you can affect the people around you. You are capable of so much! We hope that this post will help to inspire you so that you can inspire others as time goes on.
