Any business should do everything it can to impress its clients. With new clients, this impression is more crucial than ever before. However, it’s not enough to merely provide a smile and a firm handshake (although these are useful), and there are many other ways you can impress a client to make sure they cannot say not to your business.

Be On Time and Be Prepared
The first thing you should do when trying to impress a client is to be on time. There is nothing more to it than that. However, professionals still fail to grasp how to do this, which puts you at a disadvantage immediately. You must respect other people’s time, so give yourself enough chance to arrive at the meeting place on time. You should also ensure you are prepared for everything. If you fail to manage these, the client won’t consider you someone worth working with.

Keep Your Office Tidy
If you meet clients at your office, the least you can do is make sure the area is tidy. You should remind staff to keep their desks clear and move obstructions out of the way. It might be worth sprucing up your office, too. If you have a reception area, quality leather sofas are always a great choice, while indoor plants and clean, modern designs will also help you prove to your client that you have your office in order. If you can’t do this, how can they expect you to keep their portfolios in order, either?

Keep Every Promise
Promises are easily made when trying to appeal to and impress clients. The problem comes when you need to keep these promises. This can be the most fundamental promises, such as offering parking or a coffee when you meet them. There will be more profound promises as well, though. If they require a project by a specific date, make sure you deliver it on that date, or even beforehand if you have the time to do so. With every promise you keep, the more impressed your clients will be, while every broken promise will inch closer to them cutting ties with your company.

Be Transparent
Transparency is a significant element of business. You never want to try pulling the wool over a client’s eyes, so you must be upfront about everything. Despite this, some companies will struggle to be upfront and transparent. They try to take advantage of the client or avoid being honest about any problems they are having with the project. The last thing you want to do is disappear while there is a project in the works, so you must make sure you have an open line of communication with your clients, even if this means you have to be more honest than you would like. While this may cause a few issues, you’ll feel better for it and give you the experience to learn from.

An Excellent First Impression
An excellent first impression is not just a fleeting moment. It is something that can ensure what is potentially years of collaboration and success. Because of this, you must do everything you can to impress your clients immediately, but don’t forget that they need to impress you, too.
