Do you know what makes a fiction story great, especially a thriller? The possibility that it might actually happen. The Ocean Dove is the latest book that blurs the lines between fact and fiction to create a story that is completely fictional but could definitely happen.

The Book
A terrorist-controlled ship is heading for an iconic city. Tens of thousands will die if the security services fail. Tracking data confirms a deadly cargo has sunk to the bottom of the Indian ocean. Only one man doubts it. But Dan Brooks is new to the security services and his face doesn’t fit. As he closes in on the truth, a traitor needs him out of way, permanently, and his ambitious bosses cut him adrift and cover the tracks of their private agendas. Isolated and risking all, Dan pursues his case clandestinely, hunting sophisticated terrorists who know how to slip under the radar and are intent on devastating a globally iconic city.

Thoughts on the Book
If there is anything I love, it is stories that have the potential to be true, no matter how outlandish it might seem. I’m always reminded of a scene in Goldfinger when James Bond is about to get cut in half with a laser. At the time, the concept was laughed at because lasers were rubbish and couldn’t do anything. Fast forward a few years and lasers are capable of cutting through plenty of things, including metal, and some industrial lasers could easily kill a man. What does that have to do with the book? It has everything to do with the book! The story might a little outlandish at times but don’t forget, it was written by a man who has spent time in this industry, he knows what is possible.
Thoughts on the Author
Carlos Luxul has worked for over 30 years at the top of the shipping and global logistics industry. Along the way he has met Presidents and Ministers, war criminals and cannibals, scrambled a country’s Navy and Air Force, and done business with the Bin Laden family – the entirely respectable multi-billion Saudi Bin Laden Group, not the founder’s wayward seventeenth son. He wrote The Ocean Dove because he knows that it could actually happen.
Overall
This is a great book for those lazy summer days when you want to get your heart rate up a bit and feel a bit uncomfortable. There is a great pace and plenty of information that makes this a unique story that will keep you on the edge of your seat until you reach the final pages. The Ocean Dove is published by Matador and will be available in paperback and ebook formats. For more information visit: www.carlosluxul.com
