Dyson vacuums have been part of my cleaning arsenal for a good few years now. But are they really all that good? I’ve been testing one out for the last five years so that you don’t have to.

My Dyson History
Let’s start at the very beginning. Back when Dyson first became big at the end of the 90’s, my mum invested in one. I fell in love with it straight away. As a child, I suffered badly with dust allergies. I still do, and the Dyson was the first vacuum that seemed to lift all of the dust from the carpet. Carpet was the flooring of choice back then. I remember seeing the dust whizzing around the drum and feeling disgusted that my little feet had touched all of that dust. When I moved into my own place, I got a cheap vacuum and never stopped sneezing.
Recent Dyson Love
As a grown-up, I have pretty much always owned a Dyson. I have had other hoovers, and I don’t want to name and shame the others, but they were not as good. My most recent model is the DC25 upright with the ball. This has been great because I have a husky mix, I did have my full-breed husky too but Krypto died last year. Anyway, when Krypto was still with us, I was trying to vacuum the house one day and the button didn’t work. I was devasted. I was in the middle of blow out season with a husky and my vacuum had died. I tweeted my horror out to the world of Twitter, and Dyson tweeted me back. They were really wanted to help get my machine up and running again. Turns out my machine was still within its warranty and they could send an engineer out to fix it.
My Dyson Future
The machine I currently own is starting to get on in years but it has lasted well. It has survived four dogs, three children, two cats and my OCD need to have a hair-free floor. I’m curious to see how much more this machine can take. I have been good and kept it clean to help make it last longer. The filters need to be cleaned every six months, which might sound a lot of work but it’s worth it to keep it in good working order. I might sound a bit weird but I love seeing the crap fly around the bucket. I’m easily amused like that. I would love to get my mitts on some of the other products (air purifiers and hairdryers? Yes please!) but the range is pricey. But is it worth it? Absolutely. They work well and when they don’t, they have a great team to help you get it repaired.
