Cleanse your face in the morning and the evening

When you wake up in the morning, one of the first things you need to do is cleanse your face. During the night, our body goes through a renewal process, and that means that your skin has gotten rid of dead skin cells. Plus, your eyes do a bit of self cleansing too, so it is a good idea to wash all of this gunk from your eyelashes. This is especially true if you have lash extensions. Washing your face at night, before you go to bed is a must. Cleansing your face before bed washes away all of the dirt that has collected on your face throughout the day. If you wear makeup, it is important that you remove this too. Like I said, your body goes through a renewal process at night and it gets the best result if your skin is clear of dirt and makeup.

Golden Rules For Face Cleansing

Don’t use a bar of soap or hand wash on your face

If you don’t have face wash, it might be tempting to use hand wash or that bar of soap that has been sitting on the edge of the tub for all of eternity. Please don’t do this. If you normally use face wash and find that you have run out but plan to get more straight away, you might get away with doing this once. However, regularly doing this is a no-no. Soap and hand wash are not designed for the delicate skin on your face and they will strip your skin of its natural oils. This will lead to breakouts and a heap of skin issues. Make a point of using a product that is designed for your face.

Choose the right cleanser for your skin type

On the back of my last point, when you are choosing a face wash and cleanser, make sure it is one that is designed for your skin type. It might be tempting to use something that is all the rage or on offer, but if it isn’t for your skin, then it isn’t for you. Choosing the wrong cleanser can leave your face feeling tight, damage the pH level, and can cause breakouts. It’s not worth the risk. Find out what skin type you have and use products that are designed for it. This includes your cleansers, face masks, and moisturisers.

Golden Rules For Face Cleansing

Use a cleansing tool

When we wash our faces, the face wash only gets so deep. Around your nose is a tough place to keep clean, and if you have an oily t-zone, then you need to give it some TLC. Cleansing tools come in all shapes and sizes. It can be as simple as a face cloth or as complex as a sonic face cleansing brush. using tools like this allows you to get deep into your pores and pull out all of the dirt and grime that lurks beneath the surface. If you are not sure about which tool to use, start small and work up to more complex tools over time.

Use a toner

Once you have washed your face, give your skin a wipe with some toner. This can help your skin in a number of ways. First, the toner helps to lift any left over dirt that has remained after face washing. The second, it helps to balance out your skin’s pH levels. Not only will this help your skin to glow, it will also ensure that your makeup looks better when you apply it.

Golden Rules For Face Cleansing

Don’t use boiling water

This might come as a surprise but a lot of people use water that is too hot for their face when they wash it. Using warm water helps to break up the oils and dirt on your face, but it should not be boiling water. Your face is delicate and doesn’t need to be washed with hot water. This is your face we are washing, not a pot that has burnt mashed potatoes stuck to the bottom. If it is too hot for your hand, it should go nowhere near your face.

Don’t forget to moisturise

Once you have gotten through all of the steps to get your face nice and clean, it is important to moisturise. When you wash your face, you wash away the skin’s natural oils (as well as dead skin cells and dirt) so you need to give it back some moisture. Using a light moisturiser that you can apply everyday will work wonders for your skin. Plus, the moisturiser provides a barrier that will stop pollutants from getting to your skin. This will help keep your skin cleaner and fresher throughout the day.

The golden rules of face cleansing are one of the best ways to ensure that your skin looks good and will make you feel great.
