There is nothing like getting away for a few days and relaxing by the sea. And what could be better than chilling out on an island? Not much. With that in mind, let’s go to the Isle of Wight to see what they offer for some rest and relaxation.

Stargazing
If you have read any of my other Let’s Go posts, you will know that my first port of call is always history. This time my first interest is the stars. I love stargazing, I don’t know anything about it, but I love looking at the sky and seeing the moon and the stars. The Isle of Wight has no major cities and has very little light pollution making it the perfect place to set up the telescope. There are even car parks dedicated to stargazing! But if you are a bit of a dope like me when it comes to space science, there is a planetarium on the island where you can learn more about the sky above.
History
Oh, come on! You knew this was coming! I have to talk about the history of a place! And the history of the Isle of Wight will not disappoint you. The island became the holiday home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the 1840s. Since then, the island has embraced everything to do with the Victorian era, complete with a Victorian festival. There is a lot of historical attractions dedicated to the Royal couple, including a walking trail for those of you who like your history on the go. But if you wanna go back in time a bit further, there are loads of dino activities to explore, fossils to be found, and dino bones to be uncovered.
Festivals
Hands up who has never been to a festival. Ok, just me then. But if you have never been to a festival and were too afraid to put your hand up, there are loads to choose from on the Isle of Wight. There is a literary festival (sign me up!), a music festival, a Victorian festival, and a walking festival. Whew! This little island is packed with a lot! The hardest part about using an Isle of Wight Dating Site must be choosing where to go on a date! Every June, the island becomes the spot to be for the Isle of Wight Festival, a music event that attracts over 50,000 people every year! From what I counted, and I could be wrong, there appears to be a festival for every season.
Local attractions
I don’t normally do a section on local attractions when I’m looking into a place but this time I am going to make an exception. There are so many wonderful things to do on the island, I felt like I couldn’t leave any out! The Steam Railway deserves a mention because my not-so-inner geek likes the look of it. And the beaches are something out of a fairytale. There is horse riding, and water sports, and cycling, and tours. There is so much that I can’t even list it all! But, and this is what is setting the Isle of Wight apart from some of the other places that I have looked at over the years, they are tourist-focused. They know they have a great place and have decided to throw open the doors for people to visit.
