The summer is here but we are still limited with our travel options. Not to worry. At the time of writing this, a vaccine is on the way for Covid-19 and this will (hopefully) be a nightmare in the rearview mirror of life this time next year. Until then, we can plan our next getaway. Today, I’m visiting Cumbria in my mind.

History
It shouldn’t be surprising that there is so much to see in Cumbria. one of the big draws for me is the Wordsworth attractions. William Wordsworth is one of the world’s most famous poets, and he was born in Cumbria. Now, both the house he was born in, and his most famous residence at Dove Cottage are open to the public as museums. If you fancy learning a bit more about Beatrix Potter, you can visit one of the many attractions dedicated to her memory. Beatrix Potter used the money from her books to buy farms in the area and left them all to the National Trust on her death. If you have a National Trust membership, you can visit a lot of the attractions in the area for free.
Food
Who doesn’t love a good date night out in a great restaurant? If you have gotten lucky and scored yourself a date through a Cumbria dating site then you don’t have to worry about picking a venue. There are so many places to choose from! Because Cumbria is an area of outstanding natural beauty, farmers and creatives work hard to preserve the heritage and the landscape when they grow and harvest food. Where possible, people work with the seasons, use free-range options for animal rearing, and make everything to an award-winning standard.

Get Outdoors
If having a date indoors isn’t your thing, maybe you need to get outside with your significant other that you met on datecumbriasingles.co.uk. One of the best things about Cumbria is the Lake District. If you haven’t been yet, I strongly recommend you try a staycation here. It’s been a few years since I stayed here (around 25 years if I’m honest) but the memories I have of that holiday are amazing. We stayed in a tent in the middle of a campsite in the middle of nowhere and my dad loved every minute of it. Me? Not so much, I’m not a lover of waking up in a cold tent. But if you go now, you can experience the luxury of glamping.
Arts and Crafts
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve developed a real respect for my fellow creatives over the last few months. Seeing local businesses who specialise in handcrafted items continue to work through *this* (waves hand vaguely in the direction of 2020) is inspiring. Cumbria is really proud of it’s crafting heritage and has one hell of a collection of artists to choose from. And, if you have a newfound appreciation for the wonderful world of crafting, there are loads of workshops that you attend. There are so many courses that you can choose from, including stone carving, working with woven hazel, or watercolour painting. And that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Have you ever been to Cumbria? Can you think of any other activities to do when you visit? Let me know in the comments below!
hopefully when we can all travel again, I will be able to visit. sounds fresh and interesting place.
That’s all we can do – we can only visit places in our minds right now. Thank goodness for imaginations!
Travel is always on my mind right now. When we can’t travel we have to explore all local places. It helps get us by for now but this winter I will need to go somewhere warm and I hope we can.
I have never been to Cumbria. After reading your post I would certainly like to visit one day!
I’d love to be finally able to travel freely! It sounds like a wonderful travel destination! 🙂

I have to say I’ve never been before but I would love to visit once it’s safe to do so. I intend to do some traveling around my home country in the coming months (COVID pending).
