When you invest in commercial real estate, you put a lot of money on the line. Whether you’re renting or bought outright, you’ve now got a control hub for your business to operate from.
And now you’re looking around your new office space and thinking about the best way to use it, one thought is going to be on the back of your mind:
How are you going to keep your office in good condition?
You’ve put down a deposit, you might have a commercial mortgage to pay off, and there’s a few utilities to pay for on top.
With all that cash put aside, you’re going to want to look after the space as best as possible. And that’s what we’re here to help with!
Set Up a Security System
You need to have a view over your office space, both inside and out. If you’re able to, set up security cameras in communal areas, including the main working space, your reception, and outside your front door.
You can also set up an access control system on your doors, to make sure only authorized personnel are allowed in at any time.
If need be, visitors can check in and get visitor badges to move in and out of where they need to be, but you may not require this level of security just yet.
For the meantime, make sure it’s easy to track who’s in the building, and if they’re supposed to be there.
Maintain Your Equipment Inventory
Whatever equipment you’ve bought for your new office space, you’ve likely spent a good amount of money on the whole lot of it! And because of that, you definitely don’t want anything to break down and need replacing within the next 6 to 12 months.
However, it’s very easy for office equipment to become faulty very quickly, what with the amount of use your desktops, laptops, tablets, and printers are going to go through day by day.
To avoid this, arrange a proper maintenance schedule for your equipment. Work with quality business device repair services to make a proper inventory of your tech, including where and when it’s likely to break down, and what pro-active repair jobs could need to be done.
Organize Regular Cleaning
And finally, don’t forget about getting the floor vacuumed, the toilets disinfected, and the desks wiped down once a day either.
You’re likely to need this level of cleaning in a normal office environment, so be sure to look into your cleaning team options. Most businesses contract outside services to get these done, so you don’t need to hire anyone for the last hour or so of the day.
However, you will want to make sure the cleaning jobs are done and marked off as being completed, so have a proper rota you can check when you come in the morning after.
When you buy office space, you need to take care of it! Invest in your business’ future with these tips.
