Getting Out For Date Night in 2022

For the last few years, date night has been a bit non-existence in my house. But, then again, I do have four children to deal with and it is hard to get a babysitter. But, getting out during Covid was even harder, if not impossible. But times are changing and I have a babysitter in the form of an eighteen-year-old daughter who will babysit her younger siblings for a pizza and some cash loaded onto her Playstation account. It’s time for date night!

Naptime

I’m not going to lie, my idea of a good date night starts with a nap. Look, I’m nearly 40, I have kids and a busy day. If I want to really enjoy getting out, I need to have a power nap before I hit the town. Not that I plan on hitting the nightclubs to dance all over my husband, that would be weird. One of the reasons why we don’t get to enjoy our downtime is because we are so tired. If you are lucky enough to get a nap in before you head out, you should do it. Not only will you enjoy your night a bit more, but you will also look forward to getting out again. This is great if you know that it is going to be a big night such as a work event that you have to attend for your other half. Slap on the eye mask and set a timer for an hour or two so that you can get yourself well-rested for the evening.

Food

Getting food is always a tricky business when you have IBS so I am always careful about where we eat. The last thing we need is for date night to end with pain and discomfort because of the food we have eaten. Over the last few years, I have made the discovery that vegan food seems to work well for my stomach as there are fewer nasties hidden. A wedding anniversary ended in disaster a few years ago because of a trip to a new place, I’ll spare you the details of that one. When I’m heading out for food, I have to research. Thankfully, a lot of information is online so all you have to do is click here to find out what potential food you could be eating. And, a lot of places are happy to have a quick chat about any allergies or food triggers that could make you unwell.

Cinema

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit of a geek. A trip to the cinema is always a good idea. Thankfully, if I can’t get a nap, I can still enjoy the cinema because there isn’t much activity involved. Another great thing about the cinema is that there is one just around the corner which makes it really easy to have a quick night out without having to go far. The downside of the cinema is always the snacks. Does anyone else smuggle a mountain of snacks in? Casual clothes and a big handbag are a must for the cinema because nobody wants to pay a fiver for a small drink. There are a lot of cinemas that are reopening and need you to book in advance so make sure that you have your tickets booked before you show up.

There you have it, my idea of a great date night. Of course, you can do this by yourself or bring the whole family along. What is your idea of a great night out? Let me know in the comments.
