Justice League is the fifth movie which is set in the DC Extended Universe. This instalment follows Batman as he recruits the other members of the Justice League after the death of Superman.
The Plot
After the death of Superman, the world is thrown into a massive depression. This negative feeling activates three ancient boxes called the Mother Boxes. Their activation draws Steppenwolf, a New God, who returns to Earth with plans to destroy the planet. Batman searches for other warriors and people with abilities to help him fight against Steppenwolf and his Parademons. He is joined by Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg for the fight against evil.
Thoughts on the Story
This is one of the first movies that shows some of the more forgotten characters of the DC Universe. Over the last few years, with DC shows such as Arrow and The Flash, people are getting excited about who else is in that universe. I love how they have chosen the characters. Aquaman normally gets made fun of, but would you mock Jason Momoa? Hell no! Although Green Lantern wasn’t in this movie, the character was referenced. Or, the Lantern Corps were talked about by Wonder Woman as one of the forces that helped to defeat Steppenwolf in the past.
Fin
Although this is the fifth movie, this is the one which is beginning to tie things together. We all know the origins of Batman and Superman, so we don’t need to see those again. But if you do want to learn about Superman, you can learn about the Man of Steel here. But by introducing us to Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg in this movie, we have a taste of who they are and an origin story would be interesting. We also got to meet Mera, Aquamans wife and Slade Wilson.
