Starting a new business is exciting, exhilarating and completely exhausting. Sometimes the exhaustion and the challenges feel like they are starting to outweigh the excitement and the opportunity and when that happens, you need to be highly motivated to get past it or you could end up sinking and never quite reaching your full potential as an entrepreneur.

Okay, but how exactly do you stay motivated in your startup when things aren’t exactly going to plan?

Seek inspiration

One of the best ways to stay motivated in your startup is to look at some of the most successful people who have been there and done it before you. From Steve Jobs who started life as an electronics-obsessed hippy to Kevin Zhang who turned a small $3000 e-commerce investment into a million dollars, there are so many inspirational entrepreneurs to learn about and their stories will push you to get back up and keep going even when it feels impossible.

Exercise

Yes, really. Getting up and getting your blood pumping helps you to stay energised, It also helps you to clear your head, and feel good about yourself. In turn, this can help you to maintain your motivation when the business day is long and you’re positive attitude is starting to flag. So, try your best to exercise for at least one hour each day, and on those days when motivation is hard to come by, step away from your desk and go for a brisk walk,m do some yoga or run around the local park for a few minutes – it will make all the difference.

Rest

Of course, it’s also important that you get enough rest. You may be a busty entrepreneur with a brand new startup to run, but do you really think you’ll be able to do that effectively if you’re exhausted? No chance. Plenty of rest and relaxation leads to a sharper mind, a more positive mood, and bags of motivation. It also leads to fewer mistakes and more good ideas. Don’t try to do it all and take some time out for yourself!

Be grateful

Every day, take some time out to list a few things you are grateful for. This could be something as simple as a great cup of coffee or something a bit more meaningful like landing your first big client. Why do this? Because once you start focussing on the good in your life, you start to adopt a more naturally positive outlook and this will help you to maintain your motivation when business is tough. Moreover, practicing gratitude can also make it easier to take stock of your business to determine whether outsourcing some of your essential business tasks could help you to focus on growing your startup. For instance, nowadays outsourcing your accounting and financial responsibilities is a popular option for entrepreneurs. Accordingly, if you are considering hiring a startup accountant Los Angeles and other major cities are home to some fantastic financial professionals who can provide further support.

Speak to likeminded people

Whether it’s a mentor or a friend who’s also a business owner, the more time you append with passionate, successful people who love talking about their businesses and sharing ideas, the more you will feel good about your business too. Just having someone who understands the struggle to talk to can make the world of difference and help you to maintain a high level of motivation.

Good luck with your startup venture!
