If you are someone who cannot bear to part with items, or it’s got to the point where your bedroom is completely cramped, decluttering is the biggest challenge that you need to undertake. The bedroom is the one space that needs regular decluttering. Let’s get to it and show you how you can declutter effectively.

Sort Your Items Into Three Piles

The three piles are what you want to keep, what you want to get rid of, and what you want to put into storage. For anything that you want to keep, you need to work out where you will put them. For anything going into storage, be sure that you get a sturdy storage box and label or containers, as you fill them up and place them in your storage area neatly.

Use the “Six Month Rule”

Whenever you are decluttering, look at what you have used in the last six months. The general rule is if you haven’t used something in the last six months, it’s very unlikely you are going to use it again.

Get Into the Habit of Putting Clothes Away

You can help make your room appear bigger by tidying clothes away. The average bedroom size really doesn’t allow much space for things to be left lying around. Putting away clothes at the end of the night and laying out the next day’s clothes will make a big difference in what you use. Any clothes that are out of season need to be put away into storage.
