The spring and summer months are peak season for moving. This is usually due to kids being out of school for holidays, which makes it easier for parents to push for moving homes. While the moving season may be at its peak in the summer months, that doesn’t make it any less easy to move. In fact, moving in the summer can be pretty tough.

The summer and scorching heat go together perfectly. So chances are, you may find yourself roasting when you’re just trying to pack up your stuff. It makes the whole process uncomfortable, stressful, and in general, the moving process will feel slower too. So here are some ways to stay cool during the move.
Try to do most of the work in the mornings and evenings
You’ll want to try to pack up your things and move them during the hours or the morning before the afternoon hits and then again when the sun goes down. The heat is less intense during both of these times. You’ll have more energy as well since it will be less hot. While it may not be ideal to get up at the crack of dawn to do your packing or stay up late just to do your unpacking, it will be completely worth it in the end. While there are plenty of storage packing tips, avoiding the heat and sun are going to be the biggest tip of them all.
Make sure your utilities are turned on
Before you leave your soon-to-be-old home, you’re going to want to have your utilities on at least 24 hours prior to your move. The same can be said for the area that you’re about to move to. Your utilities should be on 24 hours before moving in. Why? If you have AC, you’re going to need around 24 hours to cool off the place, even if you don’t have AC, your utilities should at least be on so you can plug up the fans. It’s important to keep the space you’re moving in and out of as comfortable as possible. If it’s too uncomfortable, this will only slow down the moving process.
Keep hydrated
If you want to manage your stress when moving homes, then you’re going to need to keep hydrated. This can include having a nice cooler filled with ice and plenty of bottled water. In general, you and your family will need to keep your energy levels up and have your body temperature regulated as well.
The best way to do this is by staying hydrated with cold water. During the moving process, it’s strongly advised to not consume sugar or caffeinated beverages as these are ways to get yourself dehydrated. Even if it’s coffee, soda, or energy drinks, they’ll be doing more harm than good.
Have cold towels on hand
Nothing feels better than having a cold cloth on the skin during a hot day. You can simply just get a towel or some other cloth and dab it in cold water. This is perfect for removing sweat and keeping the skin cool.
Dress appropriately
It may sound obvious, but this mistake happens time and time again. Make sure you dress comfortably for the job, but you’re also dressing comfortably for the weather too.
