It’s awards season! Sort of. Somewhere in the world it is awards season and for the blogging world it’s time for the Liebster Award.
Bloggers have a chance to nominate each other for this award every year. This was my first year of receiving the honor, yay! I was nominated by the lovely Hayley Beth (who also received the award this year). I had to nominate 11 other bloggers for the award but ended up with over 50 bloggers who wanted the award! So, I decided to nominate 13 bloggers. Don’t know why, I just did. You can find them at the bottom of the page. These guys now have to answer the questions above and nominate 11 bloggers too.
Are you part of a fandom and if so which one/s?
I’m sort of showing my age here but…if I was part of a fandom, it would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom! I remember watching it on TV when it first aired and it was amazing! We had never had a strong female like this before that was relatable. There was Xena: Warrior Princess, and as cool as it was, it wasn’t as relatable as Buffy.
Does pineapple belong on pizza?
A pineapple can go where it wants to! I know in Italy they don’t put pineapple on pizza, but so what? Pizza is a food which has crossed the culinary boundaries. You can now use pizza as a personality test and work out where a person grew up by the type of pizza they eat. Personally, I don’t like pineapple on pizza. I’m a cheese, mushroom and something spicy kinda gal.
Why do you blog?
I started blogging because I didn’t want to pay my TV license. Still don’t. But what I discovered during my early angry years of thumping of the keyboard was- I had a voice that was being heard. Most of the time, it was a load of rubbish but over the years I have discovered a lot about the world we live in. I don’t blog to challenge the world with anger, instead I try to educate people. It might be about fitness, what beauty trends I think work, or about my local area. The content of my blog is based on the idea that I am chatting with you over coffee. Beauty tips, my dogs, what I get up to at the weekend. And I hope that every post gives you food for thought, even if it is just about shoes and body cream.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
That is a scary question! Especially when I think back over the last 10 years! Ideally, I would like to be a home owner. Be happy with my family. Successful writer/blogger. In a nutshell, I’m pretty happy with life as it is. A few extra pound in the bank account would be nice. I hope that in ten years time, I can think back to this moment and realise what I have achieved in that space of time and what I have done.
Where is the one place in the world you would like to travel to?
Boston in America. Well, to be completely accurate, a little town called Edgartown in Marthas Vineyard. It is a tiny community on a beautiful little island off the east coast of America. I saw pictures of it and thought it was heaven. If I could, I would love to move there.
Who is your role model in life?
I’ve had several different role models over my lifetime. My first was Rainbow Brite, the kid who filled the world with colour and had a magic horse. Next was Barbie. Seriously, was there anything that Barbie couldn’t do? She was a doctor, a vet, she could ski, she could surf. The list is endless with Barbie! As a teenager, I loved Fairuza Balk and Sarah Michelle Geller (see question one). Now that I am a grown-up, it is Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon is a strong, modern woman who I can learn a lot from.
Who is your favourite author?
This is such a hard question to answer, mainly because of the KappaCino Book Club! I have read so many beautiful stories by talented authors…it is really impossible. But, if I had to choose, it would be Jane Austen. I know you have probably rolled your eyes, but hear me out. My favourite Austen book is Northanger Abbey. If you haven’t read it, you should. Austen was the original chick-lit writer who mocked society with her tongue-in-cheek humour.
If you could be a Ben & Jerry’s flavour what would you be and why?
Save Our Swirled is my new favourite, and it definitely reflects me. There are raspberry ice-cream and dark chocolate bits, marshmallows, swirly bits. I’m a colourful person but I have my swirly bits and my dark bits. Overall, I’m pretty sweet.
What is your favourite fragrance?
I have two that I like to flick between, Hugo Deep Red and Centurri 1881. I started wearing both in my early 20’s and they have both stuck with me. I think my aunt wore 1881 too, and she had amazing taste in makeup and beauty products. At the moment I am flicking between a fruit body spray and a rose EDT.
High heels or sneakers?
I want to say heels, I love heels! I own enough heels to start my own shoe shop. But, I wear sneakers around 99.9% of the time. I work out several times a week. I run. Driving is a lot easier in flats. But the main reason I don’t wear heels is the footpaths. I don’t know where in the world you are, but the footpaths in Northern Ireland are awful! And you don’t realise how bad they are until you are wearing a narrow heel.
What is your dream in life?
I’m living my dream life! There are a few areas that could do with a bit of enhancement like my home and my bank account, but I’m pretty happy with it. I have a husband who adores me, three beautiful and healthy children. I have a roof over my head, food in my belly. I’m healthy and active. Apart from enhancing my bank balance and moving to a nicer house, there’s not much I would change.
