Most of us don’t live in houses that have a walk-in wardrobe with dressing tables, little couches to try on shoes and floor to ceiling mirrors. That doesn’t mean that we can’t have a walk in closets though. While you may not have extravagant ball gowns and walls of shoes a la ‘13 Going on 30’, you may still have a space where you can walk into and choose your clothes without it having to just be a cupboard at the side of the room. When was the last time you decorated this space?

Some people like to transform the rooms or sunrooms of their homes into a walk-in closet that they make from the fairy tales they had as a child, but if you have the ability to decorate a space with paint, laminate flooring, wall tiles and lighting, then why not? There is nothing wrong with a little extravagance in your home, and if you do have a walk in wardrobe space, it’s always a good idea to jazz it up where you can. With this in mind, we’ve got some tips to help you do that below.
Think about shelving
Custom shelving is an awesome idea for a walk-in wardrobe, but you do need to consider your budget and the height of these shelves. If you consider having shelves up the wall, think about putting it on top of the area in which you would have a rail for or clothing to hang from.
Think about how you can use hooks
From hanging dressing gowns and long dresses, two bags, ties, scarves and belts, hooks can really help. You need to take yourself into your wardrobe and have a look around at the space. Hooks can be used on the back of the wardrobe door if you don’t want to add any to the walls, but it can also be screwed onto the edges of the shelving and the hanging rails. This way, you can keep all of your accessories in order without having to have them all over the place.
Invest in cheap draw dividers
If you have long drawers in your closet, using draw dividers is really going to help! You are going to be able to sort your socks, stockings and underwear in these drawers and you don’t have to use one drawer for each item. It makes it so much easier to feel super organized, and springform horizontal dividers can really help you to make the drawers more uniform in their look.
Consider a lick of paint
While you may have wall tiles almost bare walls, a lick of paint on any of the shelving and word can really help. A drop of colour here and there can help you to jazz up the wardrobe space and make it look nicer. It’s a good way to work extra accessories and extra looks into your wardrobe, because you’ll be happy to spend more time there.
Add some seating
A walk-in wardrobe can help to have somewhere to sit down and put your shoes and socks on. Adding a small seat in the middle of the wardrobe without a back to it is going to help to enhance the space. These rounded poofs can look amazing, and you’ll be able to sit and admire your shoes in the mirrors in front of you.
