Doors aren’t something that you normally think about. They have locks and keep the heat in, right? Well, that’s true but doors can be so much more than that. They can become the talking point of your home. And by changing them, you can completely revamp how your home looks and feels. So, should you think about changing your homes doors?

Front doors
I hate my front door. It is so cheap looking. I don’t know why, but there are huge bits of plastic around the frames. I’ve never seen anything like it in any other house I’ve lived in. Your front door is the front of your house, and one of the first things people see. It is also important that it is secure. The last thing anyone needs is a weak looking door that the local criminals will try to crack open.
Bifold doors
In the house that I’m in at the minute, I couldn’t have aluminium bifold doors which is a shame. I love the idea of having a wall of glass that can be folded away to join the house and the garden in the summer. Or maybe I can? The thing about bi-folding doors is that they can be loads of different sizes so you don’t have to use the entire back of your house. They are also fitted with various locking mechanisms to help prevent people breaking in.
Backdoors
The back door is normally glass on top and solid at the bottom. Why is this? So that you can fit a dog flap for your fur babies! Backdoors are often forgotten about but they can look pretty too. For me, I would love a black backdoor with a dog flap so that Buffy and Summer can run in and out for wee-wees without needing to wake the whole house up. It is possible to get half doors that split in two for a country cottage vibe.
French doors
If I’m totally honest, I’m not a fan of French doors. But why am I listing them? Because my mum loves them. When I was a kid, she had French doors fitted at the back of the living room so that the house connected with the garden. But when she had the conservatory built, she decided to keep the doors to help with security rather than install interior doors. I will admit, I am a fan of what my mum has done but under normal circumstances, I don’t like them.
Sliding doors
These are the worst doors ever! I had sliding doors in my townhouse and they were the bane of my life! If the tracks got a bit of dirt in them, the door could pop off. You get loads of glass but they only open one door width. And because they can be temperamental and easily popped off the tracks, it means they are the perfect target for burglars (and no one wants to be a victim of crime). These might have a nice look but they are not worth the money.
