The Beauty Edit || Kids Edition || December 2018

Kids need to be bathed and kept clean, it’s one of the joys of parenting. But what are the best products to use on your little one? Or, what is acceptable to use on them to keep them clean? Here are some of the products I have been using on my boys over the last few months.

Because we live in a world where money is needed to survive, Latte Lindsay runs a number of affiliate programmes and offers paid/sponsored content. Shampoos

There are a few things that I look for in a shampoo for the kids. Does it smell good? Will it wash out whatever that sticky stuff that is at the back of their head? And is it suitable for everyday use? Simple Baby Moisturising Shampoo was one of the shampoos that I have used on my little ones recently, mainly because it is mild and cheap. Superdrug My Little Star is another great one to use but I have confessed my love for Superdrug and their own brand products many times before, you don’t need me to gush about them again. Johnson’s No more Tangles Baby Shampoo is one of my favourite shampoos because of the smell and the lather that you get from just a little bit of shampoo, so it will last ages. For the older ones, you could try Kids Wacky Watermelon Shampoo & Conditioner so they don’t get bored with the smell of baby shampoo and refuse to wash their hair.

Bubble Bath

Bubbles! Who doesn’t love a bubble bath? Simple Baby Moisturising Bath has a great bubble and a nice smell that mums and dads would be happy to steal for an hour of TLC. If you are looking for a big bottle of bubbles that is easy on the wallet, Boot’s Baby Moisturising Bath comes in 500ml bottles and will provide plenty of bubble baths for the little ones. The Batman Fun Bath Set was something that we got to make bath time a bit more fun for Jack but Connor kept stealing the car and driving it around the landing! It was a great bottle of bubble bath, especially when you are trying to keep the older ones interested in personal hygiene.  But if you fancy something a bit more fruity and fun, check out the Avon Naturals Kids range. We had Avon Naturals Kids Groovy Grape Shower Gel and Foam Bath and Avon Naturals Kids Body Wash and Bubble Bath in Playful Pear as a change from the mild baby scents.

Depending on what is happening in the world, sometimes the kids have more of a shallow bath/shower than a full-blown bubble bath session. Nothing wrong with that, I just make sure that I have some kiddie body wash and shower gel for the job. Sanex Dermo Kids Foam Bath & Bodywash has been a favourite with Jack the Big 7-year-old kid recently because it makes him feel like a grown-up when he showers before school. For the smaller one, I have been loving Dove Baby Head To Toe Rich Moisture Wash for giving him and his sticky face a wash in the mornings.

Random Bits

I like to use different bits and pieces on the kids. For dry skin, Johnson’s Baby Oil is still one of my favourite things to reach for. I don’t know how other people feel about talc on the kids but I like it. It is great for sore bums and bum changes, it just helps to keep things a bit fresher for the little ones. Nobody likes a baby that smells of pee. Johnson’s Baby Bedtime Powder has a nice smell that is great for bedtimes and helps to keep moisture from the skin. So if they have had a bath at bedtime, they will still be fresh the following morning. And while we are on the subject of stuff that you may or may not like to use, does anyone use soap anymore? I like to keep some bars for when the kids are getting bathed. Boot’s Baby Soap Bars come in a pack of four and are really handy in the bathroom. Need a wash? Soap. Out of handwash? Use soap. Scrub behind the ears? Where is the soap? One thing I have been very tough on recently is dental stuff. I’ve just spent the last few years dealing with braces for the eldest so I want to make sure that the younger ones take really good care of their teeth too. Jack is old enough to use grown-up toothpaste but Connor has been using Aquafresh Milk Teeth Toothpaste 0-2 Years to help keep his mouth clean and fresh.
