Daddy’s Home || Movie Mondays

daddys home || movie mondays

Daddy’s Home is a 2015 comedy movie starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. It’s dad versus step-dad as these two go head-to-head for the family that they both want.

As usual, there are links to my partners at Amazon where you can buy the movie for yourself. You decide to click on the links and buy something, I get some cash for sending you their way. Alright? Awesome!

The Plot

Brad is a stepdad who loves his family. He does everything he can to win over the children of his wife and is the perfect father-figure and husband. But his world is turned upside-down when Dusty, the kid’s father, comes back to town. Heel-bent on getting his family back from Brad, Dusty repeatedly tries to show he is a superior man. He finishes projects, gets the kids a dog, and makes Brad look like a racist. Brad finally snaps and gets drunk at a basketball game. Humiliated by his behaviour he moves out. But Dusty doesn’t get to move in. Instead, he cracks under the pressure of being a full-time dad.

Thoughts on the Story

This is a great movie for a night in when you need a good laugh. Although a comedy, this movie shows the problems that a lot of families have these days. But it just goes to show, it is possible to co-parent together. Hopefully without publicly humiliating each other and adopting evil dogs. Being a step-parent is hard, but so is being a parent. So if you need a break from your little angels at the end of the day, pop this on for a laugh.

Will Ferrell is his usual self in this movie and plays the part of the awkward step-dad perfectly. There is even a nod to one of Wahlberg’s earlier movies, Boogie Nights. *wink wink nudge nudge*. This is also the second movie that these two have paired up for, the first being The Other Guys. We will probably more of these two in future movies because they are great together and not just for Daddy’s Home 2.
