Waking up happy is not something that comes easy to most people. The thought of facing another day makes most people pull the covers back over their head. It doesn’t matter if it’s going to work or trying to get through a mountain of housework.
I like to start my day with a cup of coffee (or two) and just take some time to breathe. First thing in the morning can be a tough time of the day. You probably have so much to do, you might have work to get ready for, or you are stuck in the house all day. Whatever your situation, take a bit of time in the morning to get your head screwed on. It might only take 5 minutes while you have a cup of tea. This is time that should be spent just relaxing before you have to get stuck in. This is not the time to make to-do lists in your head. I have found that making lists in my head before I’m fully awake can make my day seem overwhelming. I have found that taking a few minutes in the morning with a cup of coffee, thinking of nothing, makes my day run a lot smoother.
I like to have my morning coffee in a special mug. If you don’t have one now might be the time to invest in one. The cup in the picture is from Poundland and I think it is fabulous! You don’t need to spend a fortune on a special mug for the morning. A lot of supermarkets, discount stores, and online have a great selection of mugs for £1. It doesn’t need to be fancy, it just needs to be special to you. If you really want a fancy china cup to drink out of but can’t afford one, check out your local charity shops. Many of these places have fine china on sale for pennies!
What do you think? Will a quiet cuppa in the morning help to get your head in gear? If you get a special mug don’t forget to tweet us @lattelindsay on Twitter.
