Health and fitness has been on everyone’s lips for the last few years. Everyone wants to know what is going to be good for them. But is “healthy” these days? And how can we be sure that we aren’t doing damage to our bodies?
Summer is just around the corner and most people will be looking for ways to look their best for bikini season. But how far would you go? And what dangers would you risk for a killer beach body? There is a growing trend with young women and men who are reaching for diet and slimming aids to help melt away the pounds. But does anyone really know what they are taking? Recently it has come to my attention that the number of people taking slimming aids is on the increase and many have died in the process.
We have all been there at some point and it can come in many forms. And it isn’t pleasant in the slightest. But that doesn’t mean that you should suffer with the feeling nausea. So whether you feel sick because of a tummy bug, food poisoning, pregnancy, or even a bad-ass hangover, here is the cure to help you ride it out. This anti-sickness smoothie has been tried and tested by myself for some of the worst hangovers you have ever seen, and if it can get me through a whiskey hangover, then it should help you out in any other way.
There is no point in exercising or trying to get fit if your diet doesn’t reflect what you are doing. For most people at this time of the year, they will be regretting those drunken announcements that they are quitting smoking, running 5k a day, or simply eating healthy. I feel your pain. But while some people are starting to slip back into old habits already, I tried to kick it up a bit with some cooking to go with my running everyday.
Sometimes we make some stupid excuses for not working out. I’m tired. I don’t have time. What good would it do me really? One one hand, I can see a valid point in all of these reasons. Or excuses, depending on your point of view.
Sunday is normally a day of rest for most people. Most people probably go to lunch with their family, or go to the park. I have no idea. I haven’t had a normal family Sunday in what seems like forever. And today was no different. Except there was a run in there at some point.
Everyone says that walking is good for you and can help you lose weight, but is that really true? After my car broke down I was forced to walk everywhere but being the glass half full kinda gal that I am, I took this as an experiment to see if I could get fit just by walking.
Fat shaming is one of those subjects that no-one wants to touch in case they get accused of fat shaming. But highlighting a complex social issue should not be the reason to tear strips off someone. And it should not be confused with someone who is actually fat shaming. But the questions remain, what is fat shaming really and how do we deal with it?
For anyone who has piled the pounds on there comes a moment when you realise how bad it has gotten. For me, as a bit of a fitness freak in the past, when I put on a few pounds I’m the first to complain even though it’s not noticeable. But for the last six months the weight has piled on and I only realised it now. I knew my clothes didn’t fit well, I was getting out of breath easily, and I felt unwell. I put my lack of exercise down to spraining my ankle last year as there are still days it gets sore for no reason what so ever. But it was only 31st December 2014 that it hit home how bad I was. On this fateful day everything changed.
If there is one thing in this world I am not a big fan of, it’s going to the gym. I don’t have a problem with the getting fit part, it’s the rest of it that bothers me. Scary machines, people posing, and a high chance you will either hurt yourself or make an idiot of yourself. The only thing I enjoy about being there is the different classes, like yoga or spinning. Most gyms around the country offer classes as part of their membership, so you don’t always have to hit the treadmill. For the last few weeks I have been doing a weekly Les Mills Body Balance session with a group of lovely ladies at my local gym.
