It’s not often that I have to spread Empties from the Bathroom over two posts, but here we are. The month of January (and the months that I missed) have forced me to spread this over two posts. So, I would like to present part 2 of this amazing list of products that you didn’t know that you needed.
As usual, I have left affiliate links to trusted sites, if you buy something from them, I make a wee bit of money. And, as always, these opinions are my own. Why should you believe me? Because I can’t be bothered making up lies to please others.
Body Spray, Deodorant and Perfume Empties
Empties #25 – Insette bodyspray
I was a complete moron when I got this and I’m blaming baby brain. My husband had picked this up because he saw it was on offer. I used it as an antiperspirant, not as a body spray. I know, I’m a plank! But, it did keep my fresh for a few hours, not bad for a body spray. The scent was nice and lasted a few hours before it wore off. This would be really handy for in your handbag when you are out and about. Because it can act as an antiperspirant and a body spray, it would be very handy.
Empties #26 – Perspirex Antiperspirant Roll On
I got this sent out months ago to review and I’ve only used it up now! This stuff, despite being a tiny bottle, lasted for ages. This is great for those of you who travel, and it can be shared between couples, if you don’t mind that sort of thing. The scent is nearly non-existent so it can be used by men and women. The thing that I liked about it was how long it lasted. I shower everyday but I didn’t need to use it everyday. I could go a couple of days before I would have to use it again. I used it the morning that I went into labour, I didn’t get to shower for 3 days, and it still worked on day 3! Hurray!
Empties #27 -Miss by Miss Sixty Eau De Toilette
I got this as part of a gift set a while ago and I only managed to use all the perfume up now. This was a dinky little bottle that would not look out of place on a dressing table. I’ll be honest, I had to Google the scents used because I could not work out what was in it. The top notes are of frozen pear, melon and bergamot. It has a scent that it cross between flowers and fruit with a little hint of musk.
Empties #28 – Tesco Value Deodorant
I had picked this up in a bid to prove a point. I don’t like people who don’t shower/wash on a regular basis, they smell. That’s probably a very mean thing to write but it’s true. You know the one’s that I’m talking about, the one’s that you can smell before you see them. Well, one of the excuses I have heard is “I can’t afford the stuff that you use.” So I spent £1 in Tesco (soap, deodorant and shampoo) in a bid to prove that you can smell nice without breaking the bank. This deodorant is nothing exciting, but it will help to keep body odour at bay after you have had a shower.
Empties #29 – Avon Secret Fantasy Midnight EDT
This was just a little sample that I picked up but I felt it was worth a mention. It reminded me of one of the Britney Spears sprays, not sure which one of them it is though. This would be a great gift for a younger teenage girl who is just starting to become interested in taking care of herself. It smells good but the price won’t break the bank.
Hair Styling Empties
Empties #30 – Avon Advance Techniques Firm Hold Spray
This said firm hold on the tin but I would say it’s more of a medium hold. It wasn’t too bad apart from that small detail. It was easy to brush out and didn’t leave any white marks in my hair. Because of the hold, it was really easy to wash out. This would be suited for a quick spray to help stop static in your hair rather than holding a style. when I had put my hair into a vintage style, this struggled to keep it in place. But it was great for using after the straighteners, slight hold and no static.
Empties #31 – Toppik Coloured Hair Thickener
This is one of those things that I didn’t know that I needed until I tried it. This is a dry shampoo that covers thinning spots in your hair. My main concern at the minute is how thin my hair has gotten. It’s down to stress, it’s been a tough few years. Anyway, this gave amazing coverage at the hairline and made my hair look a lot thicker. One of the best things about this is how it doesn’t run in the rain. But when you apply shampoo, it washes out really easily. This is a must for all you ladies who like the vintage up do’s for your do.
Empties #32- Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo
I had never tried this dry shampoo before, but was really excited when my friend had given me this bottle to test out. I loved the smell and the slight hold that it gave. But I found it to be very powdery, and left a lot of white powder in my hair. I have no idea why, maybe I used too much of it in one blast, but I’ve never had this problem with any other dry shampoo. Maybe it was just this one didn’t suit my hair but it hasn’t put me off wanting to try the wider range.
Empties #33 – Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray
This had a really interesting scent that I couldn’t put my finger on. The bottle said sea buckthorn berry and I have no idea what that is or if that is the scent I could smell. I wish I had saved this for after I had gotten my hair cut because it is great for short hair. My layers are choppy and I like to use wax to help define my layers. This had the same effect as wax but without leaving the residue on your hair. For long hair, it was good too. It didn’t leave that waxy residue in my hair that I have come to expect from volume sprays.
Empties #34 – Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave-In Conditioner
On the back of this little bottle, there is a list of things that this product does, and I believe them all. There is a UV protector, it seals cuticles, smooths hair, and locks in colour. It adds shine, is weightless and is non-greasy. Beauty Protector must have a signature scent for all of its products. This was a fantastic leave-in conditioner that is perfect for those mornings that you don’t have time to mess about.
Empties #35 – OGX Anti-breakage Keratin Oil
This oil was great for helping to tame those flyaway hairs after you have straightened your hair. This oil should not be confused with argan oil. Keratin oil as a far sweeter smell in my opinion. As well as smelling nice, this oil helps to protect from damage and breakage. Keratin helps with hair elasticity which helps protect the hair from breaking when you brush it. This is the perfect spray for your hair on your days off. It will leave it glossy and smelling nice while it repairs the damage from heat styling.
Random Item Empties
Empties #36 – End Warts Pen
This might seem like a random item, but stay with me here. Having warts and verrucas can make you feel ugly, even if you have the make-up skills to rival the finest in the industry. This is a pen that will burn the living crap out of a wart or verruca. I tested this on my husband and it really helped to kill a wart he had on his hand. Up until this point, nothing (not even trips to the doctor) could remove it. It didn’t die off completely but it removed half of it before the pen ran out, which is a massive success to us. But even after the pen had run out, the wart continued to die for weeks after. I will definitely be getting another one of these.
Empties #37 – Sudocrem
If you have a spot, then look no further! Sudocrem is one of those random items that can help with a lot of things. I will admit, I needed it for my nose after having the cold but it works on loads of things. You can use it on spots to help dry them out. It can help heal cuts and burns, handy for us ladies who are lethal with a styling iron. The list of things that it can be used for is endless! This is a must for every beauty bag.
Empties #38 – Radox Handwash
I go through handwash at a rate of knots, so I’m surprised there is only one in this mega edition of Empties. I did get some of the handwashes I have used before, and there is no point showing them again. This is a moisturising and antibacterial handwash that doesn’t stink of anti-bac. Instead, it smells like chamomile and jojoba oil. This has a nice neutral scent for the bathroom that can be used by every one.
Empties #39 – Puriskin resurfacing formula for face and body
This is one of those random creams that you should keep in your bathroom. Have you ever cut yourself with a razor and the scab leaves a little scar? Or do you have age spots? You need this cream. I was scratching my legs a lot while I was pregnant (damn hormones) and I was left with some pretty horrible marks on my legs. My nails are like razors sometimes. This helped to remove the silver scarring that was left on my legs. It can also be used on stretch marks, razor bumps, bruises, acne scars, blemishes, burns, cracks, dermatitis, keloid scars, split skin, and surgical scars. Obviously, I didn’t get to test the cream on all of these things, but it did work on the scars that I had.
Empties #40 – So Susan Statement Skin highlighting crayon
This is one of the first products that I have used for highlighting, and it is pretty good. I have never highlighted before and had to watch some YouTube videos to get the grasp of it. This crayon is excellent for those of you who are looking to expand your makeup artist skills. The crayon is easy to use, easy to blend, and just easy. It isn’t overly pigmented so it won’t look really in your face when you first do it.
Empties #41 – Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer
Even if you use cheap makeup, a primer can make all the difference. This primer is not cheap but smells amazing. It makes your skin very dewy and really brightens your face. This is really good if the foundation you are using is more of an oily base to it. This made any foundation appear dewy. There was no colour or pigment to it so it is suitable for all skin tones.
Empties #42 – Cynthia Rowley Eyeliner
This has to be one of the best eyeliner pencils I have used in a long time! And I hate eyeliner pencils. This was really easy to use and I could line both my upper and lower lids with it. A lot of other liners I have tried pull the delicate skin on my eyes, and my eyes are saggy enough without an eyeliner pencil helping. This also blended really well and is great for creating the smokey eye look.
Facial Skincare Empties
Empties #43 – Amie Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash
This is one of those products that changed my life. No really. I have no idea what the secret ingredients are in this stuff but it works. After just one wash, my skin was brighter, looking clearer and I looked younger. I didn’t realise how bad I looked until I used this facewash. I swear, I looked like I had been photoshopped. There is no smell from this, it rinses well and turns back the years. I just want to swim in a bath of this stuff!
Empties #44 – Ainy Skincare Purifying Radiance Face Scrub
This is one of those products that I wasn’t sure about because I didn’t feel it ripping my face off, so I assumed it wasn’t working properly. But, it turns out this is one of those scrubs that sucks the dirt right out of your pores. The scrub turns milky when water hits it, and that must be when the magic happens. Not only did it clear out my pores, it brightened my skin and made it appear smoother.
Empties #45 – Cream- The Older, The Smarter Antiaging Serum
This is another one of those products that you don’t realise that you need until you start using it. I have some fine lines around my mouth from years of smoking (off them one year now!). So I needed to get rid of those lines. They make me look older than I am. Simply dabbing this cream around my mouth helped to remove those lines and smooth the skin.
Empties #46 – Bee Good Plump & Firm Moisturiser
When I got this, I was expecting it to smell like honey, instead it smells like lemons. No, really, it’s awesome! This moisturiser has won awards and it’s not hard to see why. This is an amazing cream that helps to plump up the skin and make it appear more youthful. I love how it has been made by British Bees, and I love supporting local businesses.
Empties #47 – Essential Care Creamy Coconut Cleanser
I don’t want to complain about this but this one disappointed me a little bit, and it’s only because it doesn’t smell like coconut. The cleanser is made from natural ingredients and the clary sage overpowers the rest of the goodies. Which isn’t a bad thing, it still smells good. What I did really like about it was the natural ingredients that are inside. This is one of the most natural cleansers I’ve seen in a while.
