I’ve been very naughty. Not only did I use way too much stuff last month, but I forgot to do a write up about it. Ooops! But never mind that now, let’s get cracking and have a lookie at my empties from the bathroom.
As normal I have left links to my partners over at Amazon. So if you fancy some of these products for yourself, just click the links. You get exactly want you want and the site earns a commission.
Empties #1- Carex handwash
There was a lot of handwashing in my house this month, mainly because the kids are off school. And with kids come sticky hands that need to be cleaned! So I ended up going through two bottles of handwash this month instead of only one. Anyway, I had chosen Carex recently because of the anti-bac protection. These bottles may not have lasted but I enjoyed having a couple of different scents to use. These are nice and cheap so they are perfect for busy family bathrooms with sticky children hands.
Empties #2- Dove body cream
I had reviewed the body wash that went with this last month and it was ok. The cream on the other hand, I loved. This was really thick and great for smothering over dry spots. If you have been following along for a while now, you will know I love a good cream for my feet. This stuff was excellent and provided nourishment for my tired tootsies. I would definitely use this again. It did exactly what it said it would, and the scent of the cream was clean and fresh.
Empties #3- I love Shower Cream
I love a good fruity smell in the shower, I don’t know why. It’s just my thing. So I was really excited to try this giant bottle of fruity shower cream out as part of my morning routine. You can use this as a bath cream too but I’m not fond of using “bath and shower creams” in the bath. I don’t think they foam up as well as normal bubble bath. I didn’t even use this in the bath so I have no idea what it is like. In the shower, it gave a good lather that left me feeling clean and fresh. And the giant size meant it lasted more than a week in my house, result!
Empties #4- Shampoo
One of my favourite brands sent me out a shampoo to try a while ago, I did mention it in Monthly Favourites a while back. Anyway, I had expected to go through this at a rate of knots, it wasn’t a very big bottle. But I was shocked when I hadn’t managed to use it all in time for the June edition of “Empties”, it just kept going! I had expected the scent to be more herby but it wasn’t. It was a very clean smell and it left my hair really soft and clean.
Empties #5- Toothpaste
I’m sure that you are all aware that I am a bit nutty about my teeth and gums. My nuttiness extends to my family and their teeth too. My daughter tends to get a bad build up of plaque on her teeth. I’ve no idea why, it must be something to do with the bacteria that live in her mouth. Anyhow, Arm and Hammer toothpaste is the only one that keeps her teeth squeaky clean. And now that I have discovered a whitening one that is for sensitive mouths, I might be sold for life.
Empties #6- Mouthwash
Keeping with the oral hygiene theme, here is some mouthwash. This was a cheap bottle I picked up in Sainsbury’s when I was rushing. This stuff wasn’t too bad. Yes, it was a cheap mouthwash that helped to finish off the morning routine. But it didn’t have the anti-bac and super cleansing that I need right now. I would use this stuff again but not until this pregnancy is over and my teeth stop threatening to jump out of my head.
Empties #7- Nail drying spray
This is one of those things that came in a GlossyBox that I didn’t think I would need, but now that it is finished, I miss it. I even said in my YouTube video that it was something that was a bit unnecessary. But see now it’s gone, I really miss it! It was so handy! Now I have to wait like a sad person for my nails to dry! I don’t have time to wait, ain’t nobody got time for that! (Sorry, I’ve been waiting forever to drop that line!)
Empties #8- Hair Mask
This was a bit of a disappointment. I really liked it but in hindsight, it wasn’t as great as I thought it was. I ended up using this every day as a conditioner for my hair. And it worked really well as an every day conditioner. But it’s supposed to be a hair mask. Was my hair that wrecked that it needed a hair mask every day? Or did this fall short with hair mask properties? Don’t get me wrong, I loved it as an every day conditioner, but I can’t help but think “this is supposed to be a hair mask, you should only need to use this once a week, not every day.” The jury is still out on this one.
Empties #9- Fixing Mist
This is another one of those things that I got my mitts on that I didn’t think I needed. And again, now that it is finished, I am missing it. I had originally got it to hold my makeup in place for my wedding day but I started using it every day, it was that good. This mist was amazing at making sure that my makeup didn’t slide off my face during the day. This fact became especially important as the summer got hotter and I got sweaty. I really miss this now that it is finished and I will definitely be getting more.
Empties #10- Repair spray
I had reviewed the shampoo and conditioner of this range a while ago. I only got this finished up, months after the other two were finished. If I’m 100% honest, I have no idea if this repaired my hair. I didn’t really notice any difference to my hair after using it. It did leave a nice shine and it felt a little bit softer. But as the claims of repairing the hair, I’m not so sure. The jury is out on this one too. Normally with a repair product you can see or feel the difference. I just couldn’t see or feel anything with this.
Empties #11- L’Oreal…again
I think you guys can gather that I am a big fan of L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner. I don’t think we have had an empties post without them yet. This time, it was the Full Restore 5. And unlike the Avon one above, I could actually feel the difference in my hair after using them. My daughter, who has the super thick hair, also loved this stuff. We both agreed that it left our hair really soft and easy to work with.
Empties #12- Face Scrub
This has got to be one of the best face scrubs I have even used on my ugly mug! This scrub had micro crystals which felt amazing on my face! It was like millions of little diamonds were scrubbing away dead skin. And who doesn’t like diamonds? Actually, don’t answer that, there is always one. Anyway, this done an excellent job of removing those dead skin cells but it wasn’t harsh like you would expect from uber face scrub.
Empties #13- Day cream
I have already featured the night cream and the eye cream that partnered with this day cream. Unlike the night cream, this one didn’t stink. I did like this cream but I didn’t love it. It was good. It was moisturising and left my skin feeling good. But I just wasn’t excited about it. Don’t get me wrong, I would use this cream again. But it just wasn’t exciting, but maybe day cream isn’t supposed to be?
Empties #14- Face wash
When I done the unboxing of this face wash, I have full blown verbal diarrhoea and could not say the name at all. Still can’t. Despite not being able to say the name of this stuff, I still loved using it. I teamed it up with a Conjack sponge and my face was amazing! Like a babies bottom. My skin was smooth, soft, and no visible pores. I had expected a different smell with it containing oat but it was quite citrusy instead. That’s not a complaint, just an observation.
Empties #15- Body Oil
This was by far my biggest disappointment for this months empties. I might be being a bit harsh on this one. It is going up against a pregnant belly. But, I still thought I would have seen something with this oil. When I was using it, not only did I see no difference in my stretch marks, but I could see new ones appearing on my belly. At the very least, I was hoping that this stuff would have helped stop anymore appearing. I might end up trying this again and testing it under fairer circumstances, but as a pregnant belly oil, it failed.
Empties #16- Pore Fessional
I am a big fan of Benefit products but this is one that I can’t use this one. This was a stick that is designed to blot oil and remove it from the skin. And it doesn’t half work! I was using this but I don’t have oily skin, so I ended up stripping my skin of oil. So it does work. If you suffer from oily skin, this is amazing as a makeup primer and to help remove any excess oil.
Empties #17- Spray conditioner
This was a handy little spray that was a life saver. When I do a vintage do, I tend to do a lot of backcombing, especially when it comes to my beehives. The problem with this is trying to get the backcombing out again. This handy little bottle was amazing at helping to remove the rats-nest from the back of my hair without causing damage and breaking my hair. There is the added bonus of this being a heat defensive spray too.
Empties #18- Eye pads
We all know that I wear a lot of eye makeup so trying to get it removed can be a nightmare. I thought I would give these a go in a bid to remove the mountain of makeup from my eyelids. These were the cheapest one I could find in Boots and they were pretty good. They are oil based, which isn’t my favourite thing in the world, but they are very good. The pads were gentle on my eyes and there wasn’t loads of oil on the pads. Just enough to remove the makeup.
Empties #19- Face stuff
Another Benefit product but this one I could actually use. This was face serum that was designed to lift the skin and make me look younger. Did it work? Sort of. It was very good at brightening my complexation and it did appear to minimise my pores as well as some fine lines around my mouth. This was really mostiurisng and I didn’t need to use a face cream afterwards. To be honest, I didn’t even think to use a face cream, and it might have worked even better if I had.
Empties #20- Face paint?
This is something that was good but I can never use again for a very random reason. This facial cream was really smoothing and moisturising, without being greasy. Sounds excellent, right? The problem is the taste. When I had this stuff on my face, and my husband gave me a kiss on the cheek, he could taste it. He didn’t lick me or really pucker up, just a little peck and he was left with a horrible taste in his mouth. As much as I loved this, I won’t use it again. I prefer my husbands kisses.
Empties #21- Wipes
This is another one from the Boots essentials range that has performed well against my mountain of makeup. These wipes had no fragrance, the packaging wasn’t fancy but the wipes worked well. These would be perfect for ladies who are on a budget or teenagers who go through wipes like nobodies business. Or if you just fancy something simple and cheap to use at the end of the day, then these could be the wipes for you.
Fancy a giggle? Take a look at my YouTube videos that are all about this months empties….
